Ethan gave a weak smile. “I know it doesn’t matter what I say now, but Isabella, I really regret it. I know I messed up.”
“Did you turn on the air conditioning in here?” Ethan suddenly asked.
He was starting to feel hot, uncomfortably so.
“Of course I did. It’s boiling outside. There’s no way I’d leave it off.”
Ethan reached up and unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt.
“I don’t get it. I feel so hot all of a sudden. When I first walked in, it felt nice and cool.”
He hadn’t gone back to the office today, just wore a short-sleeve shirt and black dress pants. Sitting here, with the AC going, he shouldn’t be sweating.
But he was. The heat kept building, like something inside him was catching fire.
He felt like he might burst.
“Ethan, your face is getting so red. Are you sure you’re not coming down with a fever?”
Isabella watched him, worried, as his cheeks flushed a deep red. He’d been fine just minutes ago. Even if he was getting sick, a fever doesn’t hit you that fast.
Then she thought of something. Her eyes landed on the coffee cup.
Sophia had made a big deal about that coffee, kept pushing Isabella to drink it, even accused her of being guilty for refusing.
Isabella hadn’t touched it. Ethan, on the other hand, had taken a few sips. And now he looked like this. Was there really something wrong with the coffee?
“Isabella, I’m burning up,” Ethan mumbled, his voice shaky. “So hot. I can’t stand it.”
Isabella didn’t wait. She grabbed her phone and quickly called for an ambulance. There had to be something in that coffee, probably something meant to mess with his head. Ethan had fallen right into the trap.
“Ethan drank that cup, and now he’s acting really strange. His face is way too red. I’m pretty sure someone put something in it.”
Laura’s face went pale.
“I already called an ambulance. I’ll take Ethan down to the corner to wait, so we don’t freak out the other customers.”
“And I called the police, too. When they get here, can you handle it? Tell them what happened, and give them the cup so they can run tests.”
“The police will probably make a scene, so you’ll need to explain things to everyone.”
Laura nodded. “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it. Just get Ethan to the hospital. If you wait any longer, he might not be able to control himself.”
Sophia really was ruthless.
She’d actually tried to drug the coffee. No wonder she’d insisted Isabella drink it.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
