After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 692

Barbara thought for a second before saying, “I’ll stay with her. Isabella turned Harold down.”

Until Isabella and Harold actually became a couple, it just didn’t feel right to leave Harold alone with her when she was drunk. Barbara really was trying to help Harold win Isabella over, but at the same time, Isabella was her friend. She couldn’t just leave her in someone else’s hands, not like this.

Linda relaxed. “Okay, you stay and keep an eye on Isabella. If anything comes up, call me.”

Barbara nodded. “Security is really good here anyway. It’s safe. Plus, Harold has a place nearby too, so it’s not like we’re completely alone.”

Everyone living in this neighborhood was either wealthy or influential. The whole area had some of the best security in the city.

Linda thought it over and agreed there probably wouldn’t be any trouble.

When Jesse came to pick up Laura, Linda helped Barbara get Isabella upstairs and settled in bed before she left.

Barbara went outside to lock the villa’s main gate, then double-checked the front door. The house was huge, and tonight, it was just the two of them—one of them out cold. Barbara couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy.

She kept thinking about what might happen if a thief tried to break in. Before Ethan moved out, he’d actually suggested leaving Susan and some others to look after Isabella, but Isabella refused. After all, they were divorced. It made sense to make a clean break.

Still, Barbara tried to calm herself, reminding herself that everyone around here had status. Security was tight, and when Ethan was living here, it was even stricter. Nothing bad was going to happen.

Isabella, once she’d passed out, was the quiet kind of drunk. She didn’t make a scene and didn’t get sick.

Barbara scrolled through her phone for a bit, then lay down next to Isabella, leaving the lights on. She was a little scared, not really sure why. She just had this uneasy feeling, like something might happen.

Every so often, she’d mumble, “Isabella, cheers…”

Jesse couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re this drunk and still thinking about drinking more? How much did you two have?”

Barbara had told him they’d only had a few glasses. The wine was from Ethan’s collection, though, and it packed a punch. Just a couple glasses and both of them were out. If it came from Ethan’s stash, it was guaranteed to be strong.

Jesse tried again to help Laura up, but it was no use. In the end, he just picked her up and carried her to the bed. The moment she hit the mattress, she sat up again and threw up.

He was too slow to get out of the way, so she threw up all over him.

Jesse was stuck between feeling worried and just plain helpless. She really couldn’t hold her liquor, but somehow, with Isabella, she always ended up drinking way too much. The two of them were best friends, always sticking together no matter what.
