Laura didn't sit at the counter. Since there weren't many customers, she picked a quiet corner, set down her coffee, and went to grab her laptop.
She wasn't in any rush to turn it on. Instead, she lifted her mug and took a slow sip, letting the warmth settle her nerves.
She pulled out her phone and called Isabella. When Isabella picked up, Laura asked, “Do you have a headache?”
“It’s killing me. I didn’t even go to the office today, and Ethan completely lost it on me.”
Isabella kept her voice low. Ethan was still there, and she didn’t want him to overhear. She’d tried to get him to leave, but he accused her of being cold. Last night he’d rescued her, and today he was taking care of her, but now that she was feeling better, she was just sending him away. What could she even say to that?
“Ethan?” Laura asked. “Are you two back together?”
“No. I finally got my divorce, there’s no way I’m getting back with him. Something just happened last night, that’s all.”
Isabella told her everything that had happened. Laura had been drunk too, so she probably didn’t remember much.
After she finished listening, Laura’s voice filled with worry. “Isabella, you really should hire some bodyguards. Maybe get a few people to help around the house too, so you’re not alone.”
“That Dave guy is the worst. He tried to kidnap you, and after you fought back and called the cops, his guys still want revenge. People like that shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it.”
After everything that happened, Isabella knew things were dangerous for her now.
She said, “Ethan bought the villa next door. He says he’s hiring eight bodyguards for me, says it’s all his fault I’m caught up in this. I tried to say no, but he wouldn’t listen.”
Even if she refused, Ethan would go ahead with his plan.
“It is his fault,” Laura said. “If it weren’t for him, you wouldn’t have been targeted, you wouldn’t be in the hospital, and you wouldn’t still be at risk. If he wants to protect you, let him. He owes you that much.”
The staff glanced over at Laura. Realizing she was being asked for, Laura stood, walked over, and smiled. “Hi, I’m Laura. And you are?”
She studied the woman’s face. She looked familiar, a little like Jesse.
“Hello, Laura. I’m Jesse’s mother. You can call me Janetta.”
Laura paused for a moment, then smiled and invited Janetta to sit down.
Once Janetta was settled, Laura asked if she wanted coffee or something else.
“I’d love to try your coffee,” Janetta said with a gentle smile. “And maybe two kinds of pastries. Jesse is always raving about them.”
Janetta’s voice was warm and soft, her smile never fading. The way she looked at Laura wasn’t judgmental at all. Her eyes were kind, full of genuine warmth.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
