After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 739

Jordan laughed. “I’m serious, you know.”

Natalie walked him down the stairs.

“Jordan, when do you think we’ll have a baby?” She rested her hand over her stomach. “I really hope this time it happens.”

“Don’t stress yourself, Natalie. When the time is right, we’ll have a child. If it’s not meant to be, it won’t stay, just like our first little one.”

If that baby hadn’t been lost, their child would be a few months along by now. They’d be expecting a new arrival early next year. The thought stung.

Natalie’s face grew somber. “But I want to get pregnant soon. I want us to have a son. If your dad had a grandson, maybe he’d actually pay attention to our side of the family. Right now, he’s all about them.”

“Kevin’s already got a mouth on him, and he’s just a kid. He’s not easy to handle. His mom’s always backing him up, and your dad can’t help spoiling his youngest. We’re pretty much at a disadvantage these days.”

Jordan didn’t have his mom around anymore to look out for him, to help him fight for their place. Kevin did, and his mom was tough as nails.

“It’ll happen,” Jordan said gently. “We’re both still young, and you’ve taken good care of yourself. Sooner or later, it’ll be our turn.”

“Jordan, try drinking less, okay? If I do get pregnant, I don’t want anything to go wrong again. I keep thinking maybe last time it was all those business dinners, all the drinking. Maybe that’s why things didn’t go well.”

Jordan paused, looking a little guilty. “Alright, I’ll try to cut back. But sometimes it’s out of my hands, you know how those dinners go. It’s not like I can just say no.”

Jordan shot a look at Deborah, then smirked at his dad. “Neither are you. Aren’t you usually the first one there?”

Jackson straightened his back, looking proud. “I’m not going today. Deborah and I just came back from city hall. We got our marriage license. We haven’t had the big ceremony yet, but this is still a big deal for us. So, I’m taking the day off.”

“Jordan, Natalie, since you’re both here, I want you to know that starting today, Deborah and Kevin will be moving in. Deborah and I are legally married now. She’s my wife. From now on, she’s the lady of the Lane family.”

He said it clearly. The lady of the house.

Natalie’s face changed in an instant.
