After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 75

“I couldn’t find you at the beach. What’s going on? It’s already dark. Don’t you need to go home? It’s dangerous out here at night.”

Ethan’s voice turned sharp. “Where are you? Send me your location. I’m coming to get you.”

“It’s fine. I can get home on my own.”

“Stop worrying. I can handle a few thugs.”

He wasn’t having it. “Send me your location. Right now.”

Isabella could hear how irritated he was. She sighed, not really wanting to argue. “Alright, I’ll send it to you. I’m hanging up.”

She didn’t wait for his reply. The call ended with a quick tap.

“What’s with him?” Isabella muttered as she sent him her location. “He’s probably just upset after seeing Jordan and Natalie all lovey-dovey again.”

She rolled her eyes, still grumbling. “He knows they’re always showing off their love, but he still goes to watch. Is he trying to torture himself? He already did the selfless thing by letting her go. Why doesn’t he just stay away for a bit? If he kept his distance, maybe he’d finally move on. But no, he has to keep showing up, making himself jealous and miserable. He’s really doing this to himself.”

Ethan showed up not long after, but he didn’t see Isabella anywhere. He tried calling, but she ignored it. Instead, she called out.

Ethan’s eyes grew cold. “Are you blaming me for not taking you to the Adams Estate?”

“No, not at all. Seriously.” She meant it. She never liked going there anyway. All his relatives lived at the estate, and besides his grandma, none of them ever treated her kindly. Most of them just looked for reasons to criticize her. In her last life, she’d been married to him for three years and he’d never once brought her home. The few times she went on her own, Jennifer wouldn’t even let her in. The guards at the gate turned her away every time.

To her, the Adams Estate was like an old palace—impossible to get into. This time, she wasn’t going to waste her energy hoping Ethan would love her, let alone bring her home to his family.

Ethan looked at her, clearly not convinced.

“Ethan, I mean it. I’m not asking you to take me there. The estate is full of your relatives, and they’re never going to accept me. If I went, they’d just pick on me. It’s so much better here, in your villa. At least here, I’m the woman of the house. I can eat what I want, do what I want. I actually feel free.”
