Isabella just stood there, silent.
Thunder rolled in the distance. Rain was coming.
Summers in Cabinda were always like this. Sometimes, heavy rain would fall for days on end, flooding the streets and turning everything into rivers.
“Stephanie, it’s going to rain soon,” Isabella said, glancing at her with a look that almost pleaded for help.
Stephanie smiled kindly. “I know, Isabella. You should go inside. We’re heading home too.”
If Stephanie had come by herself, Isabella might have invited her in for a chat. But with Ethan there, she didn’t even bother to ask.
Stephanie grabbed Ethan’s arm. “Come on, let’s go. It’s about to pour. If you keep standing out here, we’ll all get drenched. And take your car with you. Next time, don’t you dare show up here with your car unless Isabella says you can.”
She paused, her voice suddenly sharper. “If you do, I’ll have all your tires taken off. Don’t think I won’t.”
Stephanie was the kind of person who really would do what others only threatened.
“Grandma…” Ethan muttered.
As he turned, Ethan noticed Harold’s car parked in front of the villa.
Harold was just about to walk in, but when he saw Ethan and Stephanie, he stopped and greeted Stephanie with respect.
Stephanie had arrived so fast because Harold had called her. She was staying at Jeremy’s place for a while. The moment Harold called, she told her driver to bring her over right away.
Luckily, Jeremy’s house was close by, so Stephanie got there in no time. Not only did she come straight over, but she also asked Jeremy to send her things to Ethan’s place. She planned to stay for a while.
Ethan’s bodyguards had blocked his way earlier. It took him a while to get through. He’d been worried that Ethan might do something reckless out of jealousy, so he’d called Stephanie for backup. She was always level-headed. She’d even been the one who convinced Ethan to give Isabella her freedom in the first place.
Stephanie had mentioned she was staying at Jeremy’s house, and since it was nearby, she promised to come right over.
Looking at Isabella now, Harold was relieved that he’d called when he did.
Isabella shook her head. “He wouldn’t hurt me. He’s just... persistent. Annoyingly persistent.”
She and Ethan had been married twice, in two different lives. The most intimate thing between them had only ever been a kiss.
In her last life, he never really wanted her as his wife. They always slept in separate rooms, even up until their divorce, and then until the day she died.
In this life, at first, she had still held out hope. But after she finally let go, Ethan wanted to act like a real husband, and this time, she was the one who refused.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
