After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 809

“You act like you’re doing her a favor, Ethan. You think just because you gave her the title of Mrs. Adams and hand her three hundred thousand every month, she should be grateful. You treat her like she’s some charity case.”

“You hurt Isabella, but you still expected her to thank you, to treat you like a king, to put you above everything, to do whatever you wanted. Did you ever respect her? All you gave her was pain. You ignored your own wife just to chase after someone else’s, and now look where it got you.”

“Someone else’s wife will always be someone else’s wife. But your wife is about to become someone else’s. Isn’t this exactly what you deserve? Now you’re sorry? Now you’re panicking? Now you’re jealous and miserable?”

“Ethan, I’m telling you this because you’re my grandson. If I were Isabella’s grandmother, I would have kicked you out of here a long time ago.”

Ethan’s face went pale. Every word from his grandmother cut deep, slicing open wounds that already hurt more than he could stand.

But she was right. Every single word was true.

What was the point of all this regret now? He was the one who had pushed Isabella away, who handed her right to Harold. He was the one who walked away and left the door open for someone else.

Stephanie let out a heavy sigh. “Ethan, not every mistake can be fixed, and not every hurt can be erased like it never happened. Some scars just don’t heal that easily. Sometimes, you can’t make up for the pain you caused. The person you hurt might never forgive you, no matter how much you want them to. Only time will tell. For now, let Isabella have some peace.”

Ethan looked miserable. “Grandma, am I just supposed to stand here and watch Harold chase after her? Am I not allowed to do anything?”

She was his grandmother, and her heart ached for him. Watching her own grandson cry over Isabella, so desperate and lost, made her chest twist with pain.

“It was Harold who called me. I was at Jeremy’s house when he rang. He said he was worried you’d do something to hurt Isabella, so I came over right away. Ethan, did you ever use force on her?”

Ethan wiped away his tears, then said quietly, “I only forced a kiss on her. That’s all. I know my limits. I know what’s right and what’s not. She was still my wife then. Was it so wrong to kiss my own wife? She tried to fight me off at first, but then she just stopped.”

Stephanie glared at him. “She didn’t stop because she accepted it. She stopped because she wasn’t strong enough to fight you off. She probably just gave up, like someone being attacked by a dog.”
