After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 873

Ethan walked in, pushing the door open without hesitation.

“Isabella.”

He spotted her right away and came straight over.

“Wow, Mr. Adams, no business dinners tonight? You’re actually free?” Isabella’s voice was cool and distant.

“I’m really busy, but I heard you were in a car accident. No matter how busy I am, I had to come check on you.”

Of course he knew. The bodyguards following her around were his doing, after all.

“I’m fine,” Isabella said, her tone flat. “It was just the car that got hit. The other driver was completely at fault.”

“As long as you’re okay, that’s what matters. A car is just a car.”

Ethan placed a new car key on the table in front of her. “I got you a new one.”

Isabella stared at the key, lost for words.

“Ethan, I still have other cars at home. You really didn’t need to get me another.”

The real problem was, they were divorced. She couldn’t just accept something so expensive from him.

“Don’t forget, you gave me several cars as wedding gifts. Only one got wrecked, the rest are still fine. I can use those.”

If they were still married, maybe she wouldn’t think twice about accepting a new car from him. But things were different now. Taking his gift would only make him cling even harder, and she didn’t want to be stuck in this mess for the rest of her life.

“It’s already bought and registered in your name. The key’s right here. I have to go.”

Ethan didn’t give her a chance to argue. He turned and left almost immediately.

“Good. Go eat. And don’t even think about blaming me if you end up in the hospital,” Isabella shot back.

Ethan actually laughed. “It’s my own problem. Why would I ever blame you for it? I could starve and it wouldn’t be your fault.”

“Still, the pain can get really bad. One time it hurt so much I broke out in a cold sweat. I had to call a doctor for meds, and it took a couple of days to feel normal again.”

Isabella paused for a second. “You’re a grown man. If you don’t take care of yourself, who are you going to blame?”

“Stop staying up all night, too. Eat regular meals. Give it some time and your stomach will recover. Also, you can have Susan come back tomorrow. My mom’s coming home, so I won’t need her anymore.”

Her mother would be around to make meals. With Zachary and Amelia at home, she wouldn’t be by herself. Susan could go back to Ethan’s place. It was always meant to be temporary, anyway. Susan was Ethan’s housekeeper, after all.

Ethan replied, “Not yet. I’m going on a business trip for a bit. Let Susan stay with you until I get back.”

“Okay,” Isabella said quietly, then hung up without another word.
