Chapter 49
Elle’s POV

Brad’s gaze dropped to where my fingers wrapped around his. Something flickered across his face-not the disgust or irritation I expected from someone so obsessed with personal space, but something softer,
almost… pleased?
“Hmm…” he dragged out the sound, his voice deep and resonant. Seeing my excited expression, he quickly added, “But only after you complete three days of observation here at the hospital. The doctors need to
monitor you after today’s incident.”
My smile faltered. Three days. Another delay.
But then I reconsidered-three days wasn’t so bad. Three days I could handle. After that, I’d finally see my
mother again!
Brad watched my expression shift from disappointment to acceptance to determination, and his own
features seemed to relax slightly.
It took me a moment to realize I was still clutching his hand. I quickly let go, embarrassed, and ran my fingers through my hair awkwardly. “Um, well… thank you. I really mean it. I should probably get back to my room now. It’s getting late and-”
“Yes,” Brad said simply, but made no move to leave.
I was about to suggest he head back to his estate when Alex cleared his throat from behind us. “Alpha, the room has been prepared according to your specifications. Everything is ready for the night.”
The room had been prepared? What did that mean?
“Would you like to continue your walk?” Brad asked, looking down at me.
Walk? No, I was done walking. My earlier anger had dissipated, replaced by excitement about seeing my mom. I turned and headed happily back toward the hospital entrance, Brad following at a measured pace
behind me.
When I opened the door to my hospital room, I almost thought I’d entered the wrong place. I stepped back out, double-checking the room number. This was definitely my room, but it had been completely
transformed.

The standard hospital bed had been replaced with a large king-sized bed with luxurious linens. The sterile medical equipment was now discreetly hidden behind elegant wood paneling. The harsh fluorescent lighting had been swapped for warm recessed lights and bedside lamps.
I spun around to face Brad. “What is this?”
Brad nodded to Alex, who promptly ushered the remaining staff out, closing the door behind them.
Hey, wait! Don’t leave without explaining!
Brad unbuttoned his shirt and pulled out what appeared to be sleep clothes from a newly installed
wardrobe.
“Wait…” I darted in front of him, arms spread in shock. You’re not planning to sleep here tonight, are
you?”
“Where else?” The corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
“This is a hospital! A hospital room!” I reminded him, as if he might have somehow forgotten.
“Alpha Otto and Luna Ada are still in Silverpeak City,” Brad explained with unusual patience.
And? So? What did that have to do with anything?
Reading my confusion, he added, “If we’re playing the part, we need to be thorough.”
Still, did he have to go this far? Completely renovating a hospital room?
Brad disappeared into the bathroom. He emerged minutes later, toweling his hair dry while answering a phone call. “Yes? What? I understand…” He hung up, opened a laptop at the desk, and began typing.
He glanced back at me standing there uncertainly and handed me his towel. “Dry this for me.”
Dry… it… for him?
I stared at the towel in my hands, silently fuming. So that’s why he moved into my hospital room? To have me
wait on him?
Despite my internal grumbling, I stepped behind him and gently began drying his hair. My fingers brushed through his dark strands, and I was surprised by how soft they felt-much softer than any men’s hair I’d touched before.

The moment my fingers ran through his hair, Brad’s typing abruptly stopped, his long fingers freezing over the keyboard. The air between us seemed to thicken.
Oblivious, I continued combing through his damp hair with my fingers, working the towel carefully.
Without warning, Brad caught my wrist in his hand. I fioze, confused. Wasn’t this what he wanted?
“Don’t move like that,” he said, his voice suddenly deeper, huskier.
“I wasn’t” I started weakly.
“Just dry it properly,” he released my hand.
I resumed drying his hair more carefully now, confused by his reaction. Brad closed his eyes, seemingly relaxing under my touch. When I finished and started to step away, his voice stopped me.
“Sit here.” It wasn’t a request.
Was he serious? I was about ready to snap at him when he added, “I can’t take you back to your mother’s unless I finish this work first. You don’t think you’re going back alone, do you?”
I sat down beside him without further protest, watching his fingers fly across the keyboard.
I rested my chin on my hand, studying Brad’s profile as he worked. I had to admit, focused and serious like this, he was breathtakingly handsome.
The monotonous glow of the screen soon had me yawning uncontrollably. I tried to stay awake, but my eyelids grew heavier by the second. Before I knew it, my head drooped, and I drifted off, slumped against
the desk.
Brad’s POV
After sending the final email, I glanced to my side and saw Elle slumped over the desk, fast asleep. Her face was pressed against the surface, completely unguarded and vulnerable.
“You really can sleep anywhere, can’t you?” I muttered, losing my laptop,
I stood and moved to her side, carefully lifting her into my arms. Her body instinctively curled against my chest as I carried her to the bed and gently laid her down.
A small trail of drool had escaped the corner of her mouth. Without thinking, I reached out to wipe it away, my finger brushing across her soft lips.

What happened next sent a jolt through my entire body Elle’s tongue darted out in her sleep, lightly licking my fingertip. The sensation froze me in place, my wolf instantly alert and fully awake.
My eyes flashed with sudden heat, pupils dilating as I stared at her lips. The mate bond thrummed powerfully between us, overwhelming my usual self-control.
Without hesitation, I leaned down and captured her mouth with mine, tasting the sweetness of her lips. The flavor was intoxicating-far more delicious than I had imagined during those moments I’d caught
myself watching her.
“Mmm…” Elle stirred slightly, showing signs of waking.
I pulled back immediately, my heart racing. What had done? I touched my own lips in disbelief, still
feeling the lingering warmth of hers.
I had actually kissed her. Not for show, not for anyone watching, but because I wanted to.

I stepped back, drawing a deep breath to calm myself. Looking down, I saw Elle had merely shifted position and fallen back into deep sleep, her face peaceful and untroubled.
With a sigh, I settled onto my side of the bed, watching her sleep. Something was changing between us- something I wasn’t prepared for. After a moment’s hesitation, I reached out and pulled her into my arms.
Only then did I allow sleep to claim me, her scent surrounding me completely.

The readers' comments on the novel: After One Night with the Alpha (Brad and Elle)
Not sure how the story ended without completing the circle on what happened to Sophia and Lester. That loop was just left hanging... what happened with the Blair contract of having to married Raymond? All Eleanor wanted was a piece of Rayne industries?...
