"We can talk more about this at a later time," the man said with a smile, handing him a piece of hardened paper. "This is a voucher for our restaurant, would you be free for dinner later? I will also bring other proponents for details."
They nodded, interested, and they were left alone to continue with their trip.
The aborigine Cauis Glen, considering his level and movements, had naturally entered the team’s radar as soon as he appeared.
His information, as well as his itinerary, was sent and reported to the proper channels very quickly, even before people who might know him even recognized that he was there at all.
His movements had been monitored, and the intelligence team actually knew which establishment he was in exactly as soon as he entered the threshold.
This was more observation and curiosity rather than monitoring, however, because he took the ’clearance’ oath of not planning on doing anything to harm Alterra.
The visa oath was valid for one week each time, to ensure the effectiveness and details of the oaths would be implemented.
This oath was something that they treated like a visa, though, because the system refused to allow it to be mandatory, they simply added incentives.
Other than the guests not being tagged as ’suspicious entities’, they also gave out 30% discounts for participating establishments they visited on the first day.
Of course, because there was a small percentage of kickback/rebate to the owners of establishments who honored this, most establishments ended up joining this type of promotion, which in turn encouraged more people to take this oath.
For people who truly weren’t planning on doing anything bad at all and just aiming to explore or get opportunities, this was too good a deal. Another advantage was that they’d be left alone, treated as harmless, and Alterra’s human resources were spent elsewhere.
Cauis was just one of the exemptions because his identity was too high. People wanted to know more about what he wanted.
This was why someone sent one of the Farrol brothers to test him out, whether he was just an observer, or a possible ally, or a hidden threat who found a loophole in the oaths.
After all, they were from Holt City.
This was part of the clearance oath they had to take, and they did not hide where they were from, which they appreciated. And even if they did, Orion was there. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
He just hadn’t been out and about too often, and his movements were limited to certain places, but if they had asked him about Cauis, he would’ve been able to answer them.
Still, the Alterrans made sure to give the Holt people some space, without any representative volunteering to guide them around.
This would allow their guests to explore the place on their own during the first day or so, give them time to make their own judgement, and it would also give Alterrans a chance to observe them.
Alterrans had this confidence.
From Cauis and Mattheo’s point of view, on the other hand, this was really unusual. If they hadn’t experienced the uniqueness of the place, they’d have thought it was borderline disrespectful.
They generally didn’t go around announcing they were from Holt City, but since they signed the clearance and these people knew who they were—not to mention their levels—it was highly odd not to be greeted by a large entourage.
"Handsome scholar is so my type!"
"Long-haired handsome scholar!" someone corrected passionately.
