Two hours later, the two buildings were nearly done, and all that was left was the roofs.
By this time, Garan had already taken the babies back home, leaving Althea to watch and plan on her platform. The children were impatient and wanted to play elsewhere before half an hour was even over.
What did this mean? It meant that if they weren’t on the strollers, they’d be walking to the edge of the platform.
Interestingly, because she made it in the middle of the park with denser trees, only a few people actually noticed her still there. (They did, however, coo at the babies when they headed down and went back home).
On the other hand, those who did know she was there were the ones who thought of a similar idea with her and created their own earth platforms. Of course, since their elements were not so strong, the platforms were not as tall nor as stable, despite being a product of team effort.
Regardless of viewing height, people still enjoyed the show.
"It’s almost done! I’m so excited!"
"Where are you going first?"
"Whichever is nearer to us, of course!"
She could hear talks from below, and there was a lot of chatter. The crowd had long seeped through the next street, so the cacophony of sound really expanded several blocks.
As the construction reached its final stages, Althea also noted the details she had added.
As usual, she spent a bit of silver and gold to customize their appearances (she had recovered some chump change by now; transactions in Alterra never slept). She made sure that both buildings fit with the overall aesthetic theme of Alterra—which was wood, stone, and greens.
She also added a bit of black metal in the engraving of the Mercenary Hall, as well as larger columns and taller ceilings, in order to emit a certain gravitas into it. She chose certain colors and textures of the metals, so they still fit well with the current themes despite having these accents.
And she included a lot of accents, especially in the interiors. This was the first thing new mercenaries going through the Hall would see, so she invested quite a bit on it.
First impressions could go a long way, after all.
As for the Healing Sanctuary, she added a lot more softer motifs, also adding some crawling vines in some walls, to indicate that it was a place of healing.
