Chapter 1915: Still More Tools!

Outside of their cellphones that they had to charge in Alterra to use, memory stones were, at least, relatively permanent unless they overwrote them.

Considering how sentimental Alterrans were, and how their basic needs had long been met, something spiritual like this would definitely sell well!

Some of them might even have money, but nowhere to spend it. Such a magic tool was definitely qualified as a ’luxury item’ that people would show off.

That said, as always, receiving the inheritance was one thing; actually creating the thing was another.

There was the issue of gathering the materials and applying the techniques correctly. Because the legacy didn’t give the exact arrays, just the metaphorical ’stamp’, it really was difficult to go about it methodologically.

He hoped to be able to create something within the next few months, though. He knew his best friend, Thor, was planning on proposing to his girlfriend Faye.

He wanted to record the image of their wedding vows and then gift it to them!

The Memory Stone needed flat, partly translucent glassy stones called hadia stone. They looked a lot like jade. They were not too rare, but they weren’t a lot either. Further, they were mined in places far from Alterra so the cost was high.

Specifically, according to information, they could be found near some karst mountains by the sea. They only found out about this after some research and info from the few who had been in the area, like Tronie’s latest recruit Ceeman, especially since most aborigines didn’t even know what a sea was.

Fortunately, Mercenary Hall missions were a thing, so he just had to pay (quite a bit) of sum to start a mission there. Since it was so far away, he even had to take loans from the bank.

Fortunately, anyone with a profession, especially a toolmaker with an inheritance, automatically had a high credit limit!

The Research Center also had reserved funds for procuring material for inheritances specifically, so he could apply for some subsidy like that, too. It was just that it might take a bit since there was a queue. He wanted to do a headstart while waiting for the ’official’ attempt to procure the materials. It was part of the experience, he thought. Besides, if he succeeded in his creations, he could also reimburse the costs.

Speaking of materials, there would be a market specifically for ’rare’ or unusual materials in Phase 2, like in the auction house’s ground floor.

There would probably be a more accessible market, too.

For now, they set apart an area in one of the markets to have this function. They could also check out the items here with their appraisal skills and hope for the best.

There were other tools currently under development, moving in parallel with many others.

In Alterra, it was targeted to be enhanced so it would also flicker whenever the target was in danger. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Overall, these were tools they hoped to equip all their guards, especially those they sent outside, like those assigned in reconnaissance and spy missions. This way, they could coordinate better with them and, more importantly, they would be more aware of their states and try to rescue them as they could.

The aether letter blocker was also mastered by Kalfene, so the next point of action was to be able to block specific ’wavelengths’. That was to say, they could set it to block only specific signals, though that’d definitely be a challenge.

Still, the current state was already good and usable; they just needed enough materials to expand its scope.

The token mask—which included slave-immunity functions—was being perfected, and they could now add basic information onto it. It had to be bound to a person, though, so a single tool was only usable for one. This was a bit of a hassle in everyday life, but it also made sense.

Lastly, the upgrade of Token Guard was targeted and placed on the queue for development. They hoped that the token could be placed there indefinitely, while the Lord could still control the panel. Perhaps it could also give some Lord capability to whoever they wished.

Althea didn’t want to leave the territory (in the future) while holding the Token at all, particularly if she was leaving just for leisure purposes.

It felt very selfish to do so, considering tens of thousands of lives depended on the territory now as well. It was why traveling far was a mere dream for her, for now.

Not to mention, war could still be declared even if she wasn’t within the safety of her territory, making them all vulnerable.
