At the same time, the preparation for war was still nonstop. The resources like wood and stone had already piled up not just in the system warehouse, but also on the various secondary warehouses placed around the town.

The resources were not too sensitive, so they were just placed on the canopied areas, but these secondary warehouses were definitely filled up with various things like weapons, potions, and so on. Each one had everything, servicing zones during emergencies during wars.

The floating sentries here were naturally the highest available to them, let alone with two or three guards each stationed there. In wars, this would be one of the strongholds to guard, and the evacuation houses were in the same block, so the two places per zone would be easier to watch over.

The weapons stores and the potion factories continued to produce items, and the citizens were also making sure their spaces were filled with useful items.

The peace obviously couldn’t last forever, even if they tried to delay things. The enemies were sly and might find a way to cause trouble, one way or another. They knew this, and they dreaded it.

There were sightings of hundreds of level 30 and several people above level 40 who landed in several territories, which was extremely suspicious. After all, most caravans wouldn’t reach that number, let alone ones comprised predominantly of powerhouses, many of whom were above the level cap.

Rowan checked his population list every day, and he also saw a large number passing by his area. They were also investigating a lot there, while others went ahead in the direction of Alterra after a night’s rest.

They came in small batches, in fact, likely in an attempt to avoid visibility. Unfortunately for them, Rowan and Silvia were quite meticulous and verified the Lord Panel every single day, unlike most Lords.

Rowan and the rest reserved the right to interrogate anyone they found suspicious, and this was the default instruction there; the guards followed it to an impressive degree, considering the Lord’s level was not too high and that he had just climbed to this position.

After the takeover, major movements in the town had been expected to slow down because they needed to recover, and the new Lord had to stabilize his position.

The first thing Silvia and Rowan did was consolidate power. It wasn’t too difficult due to the rules and regulations, which they also improved and invested in for a large amount of gold.

For guards during Mafo’s reign, they were oath-bound to him. When he died, they were free, but it didn’t mean they were not going to be punished.

Some were also just forced by circumstances. If they showed genuine remorse under oath, then they could be given another chance. They couldn’t get rid of everyone, after all. That’d disable the territory.

Rowan’s friend, Pasa, was also given a position in the administration. He was literate and a hard worker. Even if he only got an entry-level job (to avoid nepotism), Rowan knew he’d do well and would rise in ranks on his own.

As for the rest of the Terran slaves, now at least a thousand again, Rowan and Silvia retrofitted some of the confiscated nobles’ houses, turned them into shared housing or dorms for them. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

If the Terran was high talent and had good character, they were also given the option to move to Alterra.

As for why they didn’t just take everyone, the Town needed the forces now, and it was good to have a good amount of Terrans in the population to widen people’s perspectives.

It worked on Iron Mountains, and now even the aborigines there were mostly open-minded, at least compared to the others who were not so exposed to Terran culture.

One had to note that many of the remaining slaves there were not sold in the first place because they had high potential—at least C, and plenty of Bs and even a few As.

This was a great addition to Ceramica’s forces, and for those Terrans who—after an oath—did not do damage to innocents, then they could have an automatic position as guards to replace the losses during the massive purging.

However, after being forced to serve Mafo for so long...how many of them could actually still be innocent?
