Chapter 136
Everything happened too fast for Louisa to react.
When Julian arrived, this was the scene that greeted him. His pupils dilated in terror. “Louisa!”
In that split second, before anyone could think, Louisa found herself pulled against a firm chest. The impact nearly knocked her off
balance.
She heard a muffled grunt above her head. Looking up, she saw Julian’s face just as a tremendous crash sounded nearby.
Everyone jumped. They turned to see the heavy rebar cutter embedded in a stack of wooden materials. The impact had shattered a thick
plank.
The tool had grazed Julian’s shoulder as it fell. Louisa remained protected in his arms.
He looked down at her, examining her for injuries, his voice trembling. “Are you hurt?”
Only then did Louisa understand what had happened. Before she could speak, she noticed a tear in his white shirt, revealing his shoulder.
“You’re injured!” she exclaimed, her eyes filled with concern.
Seeing her worry, Julian said nothing but pulled her tightly against him–so tightly she could barely breathe.
For a moment, she had the strange impression that Julian deeply loved her, that he feared losing her. But how could that be? Surely it was
just her imagination.
After a long moment, she whispered, “Mr. Tudor, I’m fine.”
His tense body gradually relaxed at her words.
The onlookers, meanwhile, were stunned by her formal address. This tall, handsome man with his commanding presence was the legendary Tudor Group CEO?
What luck that they–ordinary workers at the bottom of the social ladder–would encounter such a powerful figure today.
Their amazement quickly turned to fear as Julian released Louisa and swept the area with a cold gaze. “Who’s in charge here?”
The old foreman stepped forward, trembling. ‘T–I’m the foreman.”
“Why was there falling debris? Where’s the site supervisor? And the safety inspector? Bring them to me now!”
His final words were so forceful that several workers fell to their knees, pleading, “Mr. Tudor, please spare us, please…”

Chapter 136
Julian’s expression remained severe. “I asked you a question. Why are you kneeling? Stand up!”
The men shook their heads. They dared not rise.

Seeing this, Louisa intervened, “The situation here is complicated. They’re already frightened, Mr. Tudor. Please don’t scare them further.”
Julian almost laughed at her comment, though from anger rather than amusement. “I’m scaring them?”
Didn’t she realize she had nearly lost her life?
Nevertheless, he softened his tone slightly. “Please stand up so we can talk.”
The men slowly rose to their feet.
Teddy approached with Paul. “Mr. Tudor, I’ve made inquiries. There’s no safety officer here. This is Paul, who caused the accident. It wasn’t intentional–he’s been working intensely for days without rest and was too exhausted to be careful.”
“Too exhausted?” Julian looked down at him coldly. “Don’t you understand that your exhaustion endangers others?”
Paul was petrified, unable to meet Julian’s eyes. He dropped to his knees. “I’m sorry, Mr. Tudor. I’m sorry, I’m sorry…” His voice was hoarse with fear, and he seemed unable to say anything else.
Louisa felt compassion for him. She leaned close to Julian and lowered her voice to a whisper, “Mr. Tudor, please don’t blame him. Someone has been embezzling their wages. They’re struggling, and Paul’s situation is particularly difficult. I’ll explain everything back at
the office.”
“Is that so?” He turned toward her suddenly.
The abrupt movement threw Louisa off balance, and she instinctively grabbed his arm to steady herself. He smoothly took her hand in his.
Marlee’s eyes widened: Wow! The CEO and team leader holding hands in public? What kind of relationship did they have?
Teddy thought to himself, ‘That move seemed practiced.‘
Finally, Julian instructed all workers to await further notice. The incident required thorough investigation.
Then he led Louisa away, still holding her hand, with Teddy and Marlee following behind.
Teddy suddenly noticed Julian’s injury. “Mr. Tudor, you’re hurt!”
Louisa remembered too. “Let me see.”
Julian stopped to let her examine his shoulder. His shirt had a tear, and while there was no open wound, the area was red and swollen. He’d clearly been hit hard.

“Mr. Tudor, we should go to a hospital,” Teddy suggested anxiously.
“It’s just a minor injury,” Julian dismissed.
“At least let’s apply some ointment in the car,” Teddy persisted.
Julian agreed silently.
When they reached the vehicle, Louisa reached for her car keys and suddenly realized Julian was still holding her hand. Had he been
holding it the entire way? Her face flushed.
She quickly withdrew her hand. “Mr. Tudor, I should get back to the office. I–I need to investigate something before reporting to you.”
Julian gave a wry smile. “Ms. Forbes, you’re so dedicated. Should I praise your professionalism in the company work group?”
Louisa wondered if he was mocking her again. What had she done to offend him?
She glanced at Julian, who had already entered the car.
Teddy approached with a first–aid kit from the trunk and placed it in Louisa’s hands. “I have an urgent matter to attend to. Could you
please treat Mr. Tudor’s injury?”
Before she could respond, he took her car keys. “Thank you.”
Giving Louisa no chance to object, he grabbed the bewildered Marlee and hurried away.
Louisa watched him leave, bewildered. Wasn’t Julian his primary responsibility? What could be more important?
Teddy, back to Louisa, seemed to sensed her thought and grinned, ‘No, no, no–from now on, helping Mr. Tudor win you over is my
primary mission. He should give me a raise for being so clever.‘

With no alternative, Louisa entered Julian’s car.
She opened the first–aid kit to find medical tools and numerous labeled bottles. Not being a doctor, she wasn’t sure which to use.
Julian glanced over. “The red one.”
Louisa picked it up.
When Julian made no move, she prompted, “Mr. Tudor, shouldn’t you remove your shirt?”
Julian gave her a pointed look. “My shoulder is injured. How am I supposed to take it off?”
