Her heart
held na expectations anymore-
pre–that
final spark had been extinguished the
e moment he abandoned her at Dreamscape Club to leave with Vivian.
They had reached a point of no return. Their ten–year connection had run its course. On life’s train journey, they were finally disembarking at different
stations.
Love, hate, right, wrong–let it all drift away with the wind,
She swallowed the last trace of bitterness in her heart as the car finally stopped at the courthouse entrance.
George moved sluggishly as they entered. Louisa walked ahead, glancing back several times to ensure he wasn’t having second thoughts.
Thankfully, he kept following.
The court staff didn’t recognize their faces, but their names were infamous–they’d scheduled divorce proceedings three times already, with the first twWO attempts failing due to George’s absence.
The process went smoothly this time. When Louisa received her copy of the divorce decree, the weight lifted from her shoulders, though a faint emptiness
lingered.
For George, the words “divorce decree stabbed at his eyes like daggers.

The phrase coiled around his throat like a massive python, choking him. He couldn’t wait to get rid of the burning document in his hands.
As they exited the courthouse, he grabbed Louisa’s arm and shoved his copy of the decree into her hands
“This is yours. Why give it to me?” she asked, confused.
“You keep it,” George insisted.
Louisa was speechless. Was he still drunk? This was a divorce decree, not a marriage certificate.
She took a deep breath, trying to reason with him. “You’ll need this when you remarry. Keep it safe.” She pressed the document against his chest.
The pain in George’s chest intensified, fed eyed, he stared at her. “I won’t marry again–not ever. I won’t be with another woman…
Louira remained silent. Whether he dated other women or stayed single boevgr–what did matter to her now!
She forced a smile. “Mr. Capulet, life is long. Don’t make promises you can’t keep
Ten years ago, she’d believed his vow to love her fever. Now, she wouldn’t easily trust any woods.
She raised her hand to hail a taxi.
George grabbed her arm. “I’ll drive you back.”
In his subconscious, he refused to accept their divorce. As long as he didst accept it,
they weren’t traly divorced.

“No need,” Louis sighed. “I have things to do, and you must be busy too. Let with each other well from now on. I wish you happiness–with me the same.”
Just polite parting words. The marriage was over; best to end things amitably.
But George’s expression darkened instantly. “You want happiness? With whom?”
Julian’s hateful face immediately flashed in his mind,
“Does my happiness have to depend on a a man?‘ Louis asked with exasperation. “Can’t be beautiful on my own, create my own happiness?”
George’s constricted heart eased slightly at her words. “You mean that? You’ll stay single, not find another man?”
He stared intently, desperate for confirmation. If she stayed single, he’d have time to win her back.
But Louis only offered a radiant smile, ignoring his question. 1 should go. Goodbye.”
She turned and walked away–graceful and decisive.
George instinctively moved to follow her but forced himself to stop after two steps.
He watched her retreating figure, hoping she might look back–just once. That would prove she felt at least a twinge of reluctance to leave him.
But she didn’t turn around, not even as she got into the taxi, Long after the car disappeared from view, she still hadn’t looked back.
In that moment, his heart felt hollowed out. The suffocating pressure made it nearly impossible to breathe.
Finally, in a burst of anger, he tore the divorce decree into pieces and threw it into a nearby trash can.
Meanwhile, when Louisa arrived home, Sadie called–a group call with her girlfriends. Both she and Flora were anxious about the divorce.
“How did it go?” Flora asked urgently. “Did the divorce go through?
“Everything went smoothly,” Louisa replied
For once that jerk kept his word,” Flora said. “After dragging this out for over a month, it’s finally done. Should
Louisa paused. “Another time, maybe.

It felt like ending a long jutory–a misture of emptiness, melancholy, and even a falch of humor. ––
At last, it was… over. The burden had finally lifted from her heart.
Besides, Julian was still in the hospital.
She hadn’t created any value for her new
boss since starting the job. Instead, he’d rescued her countless times.

Now he was hospitalized after being injured for her sake–celebrating seemed inappropriate.
She should visit him. But when she’d gone to see him last night, his room was already crowded–his parents, Teresa, all there. She hadn’t gone in
Given his status, he likely had many visitors daily. If she visited now, it might spark unhelpful rumors about him,
Perhaps she should wait until he was discharged and home before visiting?
When Sadie and Flora heard her prolonged silence, they grew concerned. Louisa, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” she answered softly.
Just then, her phone chimed with a bank notification. She opened it and gasped, “Oh my God!”
