Teddy remained silent. Why didn’t he just admit he couldn’t stand being away from Louisa for even a minute?

Louisa drove to Blue Heron, a restaurant near the Capulet Group Building.

When she arrived, the server led her to the private room Naomi had reserved.

To her shock, when she opened the door, she saw not only Naomi but also George.

Louisa’s expression instantly turned cold as she looked at Naomi. “So that’s why you were so insistent on lunch–you were just bait for

your CEO.”

She turned to leave immediately. George had anticipated this reaction and quickly moved to block her exit.

Louisa glared at him icily. “What do you want?”

George instructed Naomi to leave. Naomi looked at Louisa with apologetic eyes. “I’m sorry, Ms. Forbes. I… had no choice.”

Louisa didn’t even glance her way. Was “having no choice supposed to be an excuse? She would never forgive anyone who betrayed her,

regardless of their reasons.

Naomi left with a heavy heart, head bowed.

Louisa coldly stared at George. “Get out of my way!”

Her eyes held nothing but ice, making no attempt to hide her disgust for him. He had cheated during their marriage, then refused to

admit it.

Knowing Vivian’s vicious nature and repeated attempts to harm her, he still dragged his feet on the divorce.

Under her piercing gaze, he could barely meet her eyes. His voice was low and tinged with regret. “I’m sorry for bringing you here this way, I just wanted to talk to you…”

‘Don’t bother!‘ Louisa cut him off coldly. Her sharp, hateful gaze pierced his heart like a knife. “I have no interest in hearing whatever you

want to say.

“But since you’re blocking my way, I’ll say this: From now on, we’re not even strangers–we’re enemies. As for Vivian, I will make her pay. As long as I’m alive, she won’t get away with what she’s done!

“And you–a man rotten to the core–just keep living your pathetic life. Some people live so long they become the very ghosts that disgust

others!”

She tried to walk around him toward the door. When she reached for the handle, however, she discovered it was locked.

George looked at her with painful regret in his eyes. His voice was rough, as if his throat were filled with broken glass. “Louisa, I’m so sorry. I thought I could control everything. I thought if I just kept moving forward, I could reclaim what we once had. But I never realized there was no path forward for me…”

“Open the door!” Louisa had no interest in hearing more. After everything he’d done, his nostalgic reminiscing only disgusted her.

George seemed to realize nothing he said would matter anymore.

He stopped the pretense and got straight to the point, “Write a letter of understanding for Vivian. I promise that from now on, she won’t cause you any more trouble, and I won’t bother you again.”
