Louisa’s mind jolted as she guessed what he was about to ask. She didn’t want to discuss her situation with George, nor did the want to be further indebted to him.
So before he could continue, she quickly interrupted, “Thank you for today, Mr. Tudor. You’ve helped me again and even treated me to lunch. If you’re free this evening, I’d like to treat you to dinner as thanks.”
Julian’s expression cooled. “I’m busy.”
Louisa fell silent. She was just thanking him, not asking for another favor. Why was he upset?
She responded good–naturedly, “Another time, then?”
Julian ignored her suggestion and instead fixed her with that cold, detached stare. His tone dripped with sarcasm. “Ms. Forbes, you bern bridges faster than a demolition crew. Should I sign you up for advanced training?”
Before Louisa could figure out the reason for his sudden anger, he had already stood up. She rose to her feet as well.
He gave her an expressionless look. He had wanted to ask what George had done to her. But seeing how desperate she was to sever any
connection to him, how determined she was to owe him nothing… He suddenly felt ridiculous.
“I have matters to attend to,” he said coldly. “You may leave, Ms. Forbes.”
Louisa was still bewildered. Had something she said offended him? Why had he suddenly become angry? The sound of the door opening
and closing reached her ears. He was gone.
He told her to leave, yet left her locked in his home? She was at a loss.
Glancing at the mess on the table, she couldn’t just eat his food and leave it like this.
She tidied up the dining table, washed the dishes, and cleaned the floor before returning to her own apartment.
By then, it was already past four in the afternoon. If she went to the office now, she’d have barely an hour before the workday ended. She decided not to go and asked Marlee to request time off for her.
Regarding the letter of understanding, she needed to think carefully. Now that she had completely calmed down, she realized that anger and outbursts wouldn’t solve anything.
But the situation needed resolution.
She called Sadie to ask for her opinion. Sadie must have been busy–she hung up immediately and sent a message: [In court right now. Super busy. Will be home late. Let’s talk tomorrow.]

Chapter 207
Not wanting to disturb her, Louisa didn’t reply.
That evening, she didn’t see Julian again. She had no idea that he’d spent several hours of his afternoon helping her, and was now
working late into the night catching up.
The next morning, she woke up early. Her phone still had the alarm set to wake Julian.
Considering he probably didn’t want to see her, she called Teddy instead. Since Teddy would be picking Julian up for work anyway, she
asked him to wake Julian.
Teddy agreed. She deliberately avoided Julian’s departure time and went to the office early.
Sadie called her back. “Louisa, I didn’t get home until after eleven last night. Figured you’d be asleep, so I didn’t bother you. What did you
call about yesterday?”
Louisa hesitated, not wanting to discuss personal matters at the office.
Sadie guessed and proactively asked, “Is this about Vivian? Look, I’ve been tracking that little bitch. We don’t have enough evidence about
the paint incident yet, but someone can deal with her.
“I’ve found some leads. Once we have concrete evidence, we can send her straight to prison where she’ll rot for the rest of her life.”
Louisa was surprised. “You’ve been busy with this all along?”
“Yeah,” Sadie replied. “That bitch has messed with my best friend one too many times. I won’t let her get away with it.”
A warm feeling spread through Louisa’s chest.
In this world, there were venomous women like Vivian and despicable scumbags like George. But she also had Sadie, a friend who stood by her unconditionally, and Julian, who always appeared when she needed him, rescuing and helping her.
Suddenly, many things didn’t seem so important anymore.
She told Sadie, “I do want to see her locked up, but you’re more important. George and Vivian aren’t normal people–be careful. No matter what happens, your safety comes first.”
Sadie laughed. “What’s gotten into you? Suddenly getting all sentimental with me? You’re giving me goosebumps! They didn’t need such formalities between them.
Louisa said, “Alright, I’ll come find you after work and we can talk in person.”
“OK”

Chapter 207
After hanging up, Louisa paused for a moment before preparing to work..
Then she remembered that the project materials Julian had given her were still in his office. She needed to retrieve them, but she wasn’t
sure if he was still angry.
To avoid awkwardness, she thought for a moment, then called Teddy.
At that moment, Teddy was in Julian’s office, confirming the day’s schedule. Seeing her call, he hesitated, then said to Julian, “Mr. Tudor, it’s Ms. Forbes. I’ll step out to take it.”
“Is there something going on between you two that I should know about?” Julian asked.
He didn’t sound angry or imposing–his tone and attitude seemed normal. Yet something about the question sent a chill down Teddy’s
spine.
To prove his innocence, Teddy answered the call in front of Julian, putting it on speaker. “Louisa, what can I do for you?” he asked
pleasantly.
Unaware of the situation, Louisa explained directly, “The project materials Mr. Tudor gave me are still in his office. I’m coming up to get them–could you bring them out for me?”
Teddy didn’t immediately answer, cautiously glancing at his boss. Were these two having another spat? Why else would Louisa not want to come in herself? He wasn’t sure how to respond.
Louisa asked, “Is there a problem?”
Teddy glanced at his boss again. “No, no problem. I’ll bring them out to you.”
Before Louisa could thank him, Julian gave Teddy a cold look. “Are you her newly acquired subordinate, taking orders from her? Tell her to come get them herself!”
Both Teddy and Louisa fell silent.
