Everyone cringed at Flora’s sickeningly sweet display.
Feeling targeted, Wallace pointed at Louisa and gave julian a resentful look. She’s being so wreconale, kon’t you going to
something, Mr. Tudor?”
Julian smiled lightly. “Do you have a problem with that?”
Wallace fell silence. As if he’d dare.
The group continued forward. After a few steps, they reached the end of the corridor where a pair of dark red wooden doors soood, studded with antique bronze rivets.
At first glance, they resembled the entrance to an ancient church’s basement.
The door frame was carved from stone with intricate Gothic patterns that exuded a sinister atmosphere.
Were they still in an office building? Or had they time–traveled to a 19th–century underground crypt?
As they hesitated, the doors opened, and a young woman in a vintage black gown with a lace shawl emerged. Her face was delicate, with the quiet dignity of a portrait from a bygone era.
Perhaps disturbed by their commotion in the hallway, she looked up at the six people before her–handsome men and beautiful women- with a flash of surprise in her eyes. “Are you all together? Do you have an appointment?”
They exchanged glances–this place seemed rarely visited, yet required appointments?
Louisa smiled. “We’re from out of town. We’ve heard Madame Raven is quite gifted, so we came directly without an appointment. Could you make an exception for us?”
The young woman looked troubled. “Without an appointment, Madame won’t see anyone.”
Julian spoke slowly. “Wait, our friend has. She arrived before us and should already be inside. A watson. You know her, don’t you?”
His handsome features, elegant demeanor, and steady, polite speech were compelling. The young woman seemed drawn to his presence

and nodded. “Yes, Ms. Watson is inside.”
:.
Julian smiled slightly. “Then could you take us to her?”
Realizing this involved her job, the woman immediately came to her senses and shook her head. ‘I’m afraid not. All slots until midnight are fully booked. Please come back another time.”
Louisa quickly grabbed Julian’s arm, her tone urgent. “You see, my friend is gravely ill. Doctors say he might not make it through the night. We heard Madame Raven could ensure his safety, so we rushed here.
“Saving a life trumps any rule. You study spiritual arts–surely you wouldn’t let someone die if you could help?”
The woman looked skeptically at Julian–did he look ill?
Forced into playing along, Julian gave a few light coughs. The four others behind them nearly burst out laughing but managed to contain
themselves.
“Is he your boyfriend?” the woman asked Louisa.
Without answering, Louisa pulled her aside and began whispering. The others couldn’t hear what was said, but they could see what looked
like a negotiation.
At first, the woman shook her head, then gradually her expression turned hesitant. Finally, Louisa said something that made her face suddenly fill with fear, as if she’d been convinced.
Julian’s lips curled into a slight smile.
Louisa returned, and the woman said, “You’re right, saving a life is important. Besides, you all seem destined to meet Madame Raven.
Follow me.”
She led them through the heavy wooden doors and instructed everyone to place their phones in a metal box by the entrance–the rules of
the establishment. They complied.
Under her guidance, they walked through a long corridor with walls decorated to resemble stone.
Candles flickered, making it feel as if they had truly entered some ancient underground altar.
Louisa couldn’t help wondering if the interior designer had used horror movie sets as inspiration.
Julian walked beside her and asked quietly, “How did we suddenly become destined to meet her?”
Louisa covered her mouth with her hand and whispered back, ‘Not destined, but paid.”
“What did you say?” Julian acted as if he hadn’t heard.

Seemingly annoyed, he pulled her waist against him and whispered in her ear, ‘1’11 deal with you when we get back?
His deep, gentle voice carried a dangerous sensuality that nearly made Louisa’s knees buckle.
Fortunately, they soon reached their destination. The woman opened a door and gestured for them to enter. Please rest here. I’ll come get you when it’s time. Don’t wander around–we have many spirits enshrined here. Disturbing them could have serious consequences.”
“Understood,” Louisa replied.
After the woman left, they surveyed the room. It contained sofas, wooden chairs, tea, and snacks–clearly a waiting area for guests.
Still flustered by Julian’s actions, Louisa deliberately sat next to Flora and Rachel.
As Flora was about to speak, Louisa quickly made a “shh‘ gesture. She took paper and pen from her bag and wrote: [This place might be bugged. Let’s communicate in writing.
She passed the notepad around like a game of hot potato.
Each of them wrote down a [1] as agreement.
Finally, it reached Julian. He didn’t write anything, just nodded.

Louisa signaled for him to pass the notebook back, as she had more to write. He didn’t move.
Louisa had no choice but to get up and walk toward him.
