After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire’s Arms
Chapter 221
“I don’t know how Julian knows either,” Louisa shook her head. “I suspect he only found some clues, not concrete evidence.”

Sadie couldn’t sit still anymore. “What are we waiting for? Let’s go ask him right away! If we combine his information with mine, we might discover new leads.”
With the case potentially advancing, she couldn’t wait another minute.
Louisa quickly grabbed her arm. “Don’t be rash. Regardless of Julian’s intentions, this is my problem. I
don’t want to drag him into my affairs.”
Sadie looked puzzled. “Are you trying to distance yourself from him?”
“He’s already involved with the Price and Capulet families because of me. I can’t burden him further.” Louisa looked at Sadie earnestly. “And not just him–you need to stop investigating too, Sadie.”
Call her weak or cowardly, but the Price family had truly terrified her. She feared for her friends‘ safety. And her father–she needed to arrange bodyguards to protect him.
Seeing Louisa’s ashen face, Sadie leaned forward. “Louisa, what’s really going on? Talk to me.”
Louisa collected herself and explained about George’s visit, demanding she sign a statement of forgiveness.
Sadie hadn’t expected this development. Furious, she stood up, kicking over her chair. “Fuck George! That bastard! Why doesn’t he just die?
“Ever since he got together with that bitch Vivian, he’s barely human anymore! A statement of forgiveness? He’s dreaming! I’ll destroy him!”
Her outburst attracted stares and whispers from nearby diners.
Louisa pulled her back down, forcing herself to remain calm. “Don’t get upset. Don’t worry about George- I’m not afraid of his threats. I can handle him. But you need to back off and stop investigating…”
The news about the boy’s mother dying in a gas explosion had truly frightened her. She couldn’t bear to see anything happen to Sadie.
Sadie saw the fear in her eyes. “What are you afraid of? Don’t worry! I’m not scared of them!”

Louisa stubbornly shook her head. “No. I only have three people left–my father, you, and Flora. I can’t watch anything happen to you. I couldn’t handle that.”
Sadie was deeply frustrated. “Damn it! It’s all George’s fault. That bastard couldn’t control himself, got involved with that monster, and now look what’s happened to you. I swear I will kill him.”

Louisa felt devastated. How had she ever gotten mixed up with George? Now he was endangering not just her, but everyone she cared about.
Seeing Louisa’s genuine fear–that terrible feeling of others dying because of you–Sadie put an arm around her shoulders. “Alright, I promise I won’t do anything rash. Try to relax.”
Louisa nodded. “Let’s leave it at this. I’ll sign the statement, and at least George won’t bother me anymore. As for Vivian, we’ll wait and see. If we can’t deal with her ourselves, someone else eventually will.”
Her last comment sparked something in Sadie. She looked at her friend with sudden excitement. “That’s it! I can’t believe I forgot–you could ask Julian for help! He could definitely handle the Price family.”
Louisa immediately shook her head. “No. Besides not wanting to involve him, we don’t even know what he’s thinking. Vivian stabbed him, yet he didn’t press charges. He clearly has his own plans.”
She continued, “What if I ask for his help and he makes inappropriate demands? Should I accept or refuse? If I accept, doesn’t that just make it a transaction?”
“I doubt it. Mr. Tudor doesn’t seem like that kind of
person.”
“I believe he isn’t, but even if he doesn’t ask for anything, if he helps me so significantly, how could I refuse him anything in the future? Wouldn’t that still be a form of transaction?”
“But you already owe him quite a bit, don’t you? Let me count how many times he’s saved you…”
Sadie actually started counting on her fingers.
“Stop it,” Louisa said. “Things are different now. Before, when he repeatedly saved me, it was about honor, and I repaid him with loyalty. But if I explicitly ask for help, no matter how it develops, it becomes a
transaction.”
“Listen to yourself! You just said it was about honor before, but now the nature has changed–it’s become about feelings, right? You know perfectly well there are emotions between you two. If that’s the case, why are you so afraid of offering yourself in return? It’s not as terrible as you think.”

“But offering myself in return is fundamentally a transaction.” Louisa was adamant on this point. “I refuse
to trade with him that way.”
Sadie nodded. “Fine. Let’s see how long you can keep this up. You might fool others, but you can’t fool
yourself.”
They finished their meal and headed home.
Regarding Vivian’s case, they agreed to ease off for now and observe from a distance.
After all, murder was a serious crime–the Price and Capulet families couldn’t possibly cover everything up.
Justice would find a way.
The next day, after Sadie made the arrangements, she and Louisa went to the police station to sign the
statement of forgiveness.
When George found out, he rushed over immediately.
By the time he arrived, Louisa had already signed.
They encountered each other at the station entrance.
Louisa had no desire to speak with him and tried to walk past.
In desperation, George reached for her hand.
She immediately pulled away, giving him an icy look. “I’ve given you what you wanted. Don’t forget your promise–stay away from me and out of my sight.”
Disgusting.
George was wounded by the coldness in her eyes. He looked at her cautiously, his expression full of painful pleading. “Louisa, I know you’re angry–you should be. You can ask anything of me. I’ll compensate you, fulfill any request, if only you…”
Don’t be so cold.
He couldn’t bear it. He truly couldn’t.
He had thought that for her sake, he could leave her alone.
