Julian’s lips curved into a gentle smile, as if remembering something. “I like women with good appetites.”

Meanwhile, Louisa had just finished her meal and was about to request the check when she realized

executive.

“Miss, may I get to know you? My name is-”

“I’m sorry,” Louisa politely interrupted, giving him no chance to continue.

The man persisted. “Perhaps we could-”

“I’m sorry, but no.” Her second refusal came with a noticeably cooler tone. What was wrong with this guy?

She’d already refused him once.

Just then, Sadie sent her another message. Ignoring the man completely, she lowered her head to respond.

A male hand tapped on her table. Assuming it was still the same guy, she didn’t even look up as she fired off three consecutive rejections: “I’m taken, not interested, please leave.”

“What exactly are you ‘taken‘ with?” came a familiar, deep voice.

Louisa looked up to find Julian standing there, Abigail nowhere in sight.

Had she left already? But hadn’t they been getting along so well? It certainly seemed like they were

heading toward something more.

Whatever–her boss’s personal affairs weren’t her business.

Suppressing that uncomfortable feeling rising in her chest, Louisa addressed him politely, “Mr. Tudor, if

you have no further instructions, I’ll be heading home now.”

“Is going home the only aspiration you have in life?” Julian scoffed.

Louisa felt deflated. Seriously, Julian? Look at the time. Overtime with no pay, and now she wasn’t even

allowed to leave?

But since her boss had asked a serious question, she gave a serious answer, “Of course I have aspirations. As a dedicated employee, my life goal is to have endless money without having to work for it.”

Julian couldn’t help but laugh. “How ambitious of you.”

He headed for the exit, and Louisa quickly grabbed her bag to follow.

Into the elevator and down to the lobby, she maintained a professional distance behind him, playing her

subordinate role perfectly.

Once seated in the car, Julian spoke leisurely, “Ms. Forbes, as my ‘consultant,‘ shouldn’t you be reporting your findings? What did you think of Ms. Foster? Do tell.”

Louisa remained silent. So her boss’s difficult question had finally arrived.

She answered honestly, “Ms. Foster is beautiful, elegant and seems very cultured–an outstanding socialite who would make a perfect match with Mr. Tudor. You’re quite the power couple.

“From what I observed, you two seemed to enjoy each other’s company, I believe you should get to know

each other better.”

After she finished speaking, the car fell into complete sence. A chilly atmosphere spread rapidly throughout the vehicle.

The two men in the front slowly exchanged glances, both feeling like they’d been turned to ice.

The air pressure seemed to drop by the second. The two men in front forgot to start the car.

Louisa felt the deadly atmosphere. She turned to look at Julian, who sat there without saying a word, his

expression frighteningly cold.

They couldn’t just stay frozen like this forever. After carefully choosing her words, she said, “I’m just

sharing my personal opinion, which might not be accurate. What matters most is your own thoughts.”

Julian still said nothing.

Louisa felt frustrated. He’d asked her to speak, she had spoken, and now he was upset. She was getting

sleepy and just wanted to go home.

Just then, Noah in the driver’s seat turned around discreetly.

She silently mouthed, “Let’s go.”

Noah immediately started the car.

The entire ride home, no one spoke a word. The oppressive atmosphere continued until they reached the

underground parking garage.

Noah and Teddy needed to return to their own homes, so they stayed in the car while Louisa and Julian

entered the elevator.

She stared at the floor numbers as they climbed one by one, never having felt time pass so slowly. Finally,

they reached the 17th floor.

To Louisa, the elevator ding was the most beautiful sound she’d heard all day. She breathed a sigh of relief and, forgetting all politeness, rushed out as soon as the doors opened.

Julian walked unhurriedly behind her.
