Chapter 241
Teddy’s jaw dropped in shock. What else didn’t he know about this situation?
Looking at Louisa’s faint smile, he suddenly felt a sharp pang in his chest. She clearly had feelings for Julian, but because of their
mismatched social status, she wouldn’t let herself accept it.
Now she had to watch the man she cared for date someone else–and still manage to smile and wish them well.
How cruel. How could she even force that smile? And Julian–how could he flirt with someone when he’d already decided to marry another
woman? What a jerk.
After five years working alongside Julian, this was the first time Teddy had mentally cursed his boss.
He wanted to say something comforting to Louisa, but she seemed to read his thoughts and spoke first. “Let’s drop this. I came to you about the personnel list. If you have any suggestions, I’d appreciate your help.”
“Of course, Let’s go to my office.”
When Julian emerged from the conference room, he was greeted by the sight of Louisa and Teddy hunched over the desk together, their heads nearly touching as they reviewed a list, laughing and chatting.
Something about the scene irritated him. “Mr. Adams,” he called out suddenly.
Percy, who had been trudging behind Julian with his head down in exhaustion, snapped to attention as if he’d been injected with adrenaline. “Yes, Mr. Tudor! What can I do for you?”
Julian ignored him, his eyes fixed on Louisa. Hearing the commotion, she instinctively looked up toward them. At that exact moment, Julian averted his gaze as if he hadn’t seen her.
“Never mind,” he said casually to Percy.
Percy remained silent. Julian called him for nothing? He was already running on fumes–he’d secretly taken heart medication during the
meeting.
Thankfully, Julian had dismissed him. Percy made his escape with surprising agility for a man his age. If he didn’t leave now, he’d end up needing oxygen.
The dozen or so executives behind him, seeing Percy flee, quickly followed suit.
julian then turned to the four female secretaries. “You can all go home now.”

“Yes, Mr. Tudor, they replied, promptly gathering their things.
Within moments, only Julian, Louisa, and Teddy remained on the entire floor.
Teddy wondered if he might be lucky enough to leave early too.

As if reading his thoughts, Julian’s cold gaze shifted toward them. “What are you two so busy with during work hours?”
Louisa met his gaze, feeling annoyed. He might still be working, but she had officially clocked out. And what was that look about? As if
she’d cheated on him right in front of his eyes.
Teddy nodded in silent agreement–Julian’s tone seemed unnecessarily accusatory. Seeing that Louisa wasn’t going to explain, he quickly jumped in. ‘We’re working, Mr. Tudor.
Julian nodded with approval. “Good. Order some food, and Ms. Forbes, grab your laptop and come to my office. We’re working late.
Louisa said nothing. He’d sent all his secretaries home but expected her to work overtime with him? The nerve.
“Any objections?” Julian noticed her silence.
…No, Louisa replied. She didn’t dare object.
Teddy, accustomed to overtime, didn’t react. Once Julian returned to his office, he turned to Louisa. “Just so you know, we’ve got a heavy workload lately. We’ll probably be here until after eleven.”
“…That’s fine,” Louisa said.
She wasn’t afraid of working late. Back at the Capulet Group, she’d worked overtime every day. During the busiest periods, she’d slept less than ten hours a week. Overtime wasn’t the problem. Working overtime with Julian was what worried her.
But what could she do?
She went to the 24th floor to her office, grabbed her laptop, and filled her thermos with black coffee before heading up to the 36th floor.
In Julian’s office, she plugged in her laptop, collected her assignment from him, and immediately focused on work. To stay alert, she downed half her coffee.
Not long after, the dinner Teddy ordered arrived. Since Julian disliked food smells in his office, Teddy habitually set up the meal in the lounge area outside. He went in to announce, “Mr. Tudor, dinner’s ready.”
“I know,” Julian replied.
He stood up and walked out, glancing at Louisa as he passed. She appeared not to notice, completely absorbed in her work.

Julian frowned slightly and rapped his knuckles on her desk as he passed. Louisa looked up. ‘Did you need something. Mr. Tud
“Dinner, Julian said.
‘I’m not hungry, Louisa replied. After all that coffee, her stomach was already uncomfortable. She definitely couldn’t eat.
As she was thinking of an excuse, her phone alarm went off–the dinner reminder Julian had previously set for her. She felt awkward
Meeting Julian’s subtly intimidating gaze, she swallowed whatever excuse she’d been about to make and resigned herself to joining him
for dinner.
Teddy had proven himself a capable assistant–he’d ordered dishes based on both Julian’s and Louisa’s preferences,
Normally, Louisa would have dug right in, but now her stomach felt even worse. The pasta in front of her became a plaything as she poked at it with her fork, unable to eat.
Julian glanced at her. ‘Not feeling well today, Ms. Forbes?”
Louisa met his gaze without a word, then suddenly started shoveling pasta into her mouth.
Julian frowned. Watching half her pasta disappear in seconds, his expression darkened. Eating that quickly–wouldn’t she choke?
He took the pasta away from her and placed a bowl of fragrant chicken and vegetable soup in front of her. “Drink this.”
Louisa fell silent. Looking at the appetizing soup only made her stomach feel worse. She didn’t understand why she was forcing herself to eat when she clearly couldn’t.
She didn’t touch the soup. “I’m full,” she told Julian directly. “You two enjoy your meal. I’m going back to work.”
