After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire’s Arms
Chapter 242
Louisa set down her utensils and returned to the office without another word.
Julian also put down his silverware. The air pressure in the room seemed to drop rapidly.
Meanwhile, Teddy continued eating with obvious enjoyment.
T
Julian gave him a cool stare. “Delicious, is it?”
“Very…” Teddy began, then realized something was off. Meeting his boss’s icy gaze, he froze with a forkful of abalone halfway to his
mouth, unsure whether to eat it or put it down.
Finally catching on, he hastily set his fork down. “This is from that trendy private kitchen! All the women in our company have been
talking about wanting to eat there but can’t afford it. That’s why I ordered from them.”
“Blacklist them. Don’t order from there again,” Julian said flatly.
“…Yes, sir.”
Julian wiped his mouth with a napkin and returned to his office.
Teddy sighed in frustration, picking up the abalone again and popping it into his mouth. It really was delicious.
The food wasn’t the problem. The people were.
One person harboring feelings she wouldn’t admit, bottling up everything inside. The other clearly caring about her but still dating someone else. Both were impossible.
Back in the office, Julian glanced at Louisa, who was diligently working.
“If you don’t want to work overtime, you can go home,” he said.
Louisa looked up, her bright eyes filled with confusion. “I never said I didn’t want to work overtime.”
Julian said nothing more, though the air carried the faint sound of a sigh.
Soon after, Teddy finished eating, cleaned up the dishes, and joined them in Julian’s office.
The three worked in complete silence at first, the office quiet enough to hear a pin drop.

Three hours later, Louisa finished reviewing a stack of project proposals. Her initial screening had eliminated half of them.
She sent the remaining half to Julian and stretched her arms above her head.
“You’re done? Teddy asked, looking at her.
“All finished.”
Teddy couldn’t hide his admiration. “Your efficiency is incredible–almost on par with Mr. Tudor.”
Teddy had always considered himself quite capable, but even he would need at least a full day to go through all those proposals.
Seeing his envious expression, Louisa smiled. “I can help with some of your work if you can’t finish.”
Teddy perked up immediately, ready to hand over some files.
Before he could speak, Julian, who had been silent until now, commented coolly, “Ms. Forbes is quite the helpful one, isn’t she?”
Both Teddy and Louisa fell silent.
What should have been a compliment somehow sounded like anything but coming from Julian’s mouth.
Teddy quickly recovered. “No, no, I’m almost done too. Mr. Tudor probably needs more help–why don’t you assist him instead?”
Louisa nodded. She turned to Julian. “Is there anything you need me to do, Mr. Tudor?”
Her tone was impeccably polite.
Julian continued working without looking up. “You’re so eager to follow Mr. Young’s instructions. Perhaps he should be the one paying
your salary.”
Louisa sighed. Great. Another sarcasm.
Teddy was speechless. Why was his boss always so jealous?
Louisa looked at Julian wearily. “Do you have any work for me, Mr. Tudor?”
If not, she’d go home.
Julian finally looked up, his tone softening. “Come here.”
Louisa stood and walked to his desk.

How am I supposed to explain anything with you standing over there? Come around to this side, juhlan sal
Louisa hesitated.
Net again? The last time he’d asked her to come closer, he’d pulled her onto his lap.
What was he planning this time?
She glanced surreptitiously at Teddy. With him present, Julian surely wouldn’t try anything, right?
Julian caught her glance and his voice cooled. “It seems you really do want a new boss.”
“That’s not true,” Louisa protested.
Teddy thought to himself: ‘Please don’t drag me into your crossfire.‘
‘I’ll go make coffee for everyone,” he announced, making a quick exit.
Louisa felt abandoned. Why was this happening to her?
Then again, she reasoned, Julian had committed to someone else–surely he wouldn’t try anything with her now…
“Is there a problem?” Julian asked calmly.
…No problem,” Louisa replied, resigned.
She walked over to him.
Julian placed two documents in front of her. “These are recent financial statements. Please review them, especially these sections. I haven’t calculated carefully, but I believe there are discrepancies.”
“Alright.”
Louisa flipped through the pages, trying to determine if she had any immediate questions.
Julian didn’t rush her.
She stood beside him, leaning over to examine the documents closely.
The subtle scent of her perfume drifted to him. His mind wandered.

Letsa nodded and took the financial statements back to her desk,
Before she could sit down, julian’s quiet voice reached her: ‘About yesterday–I’m sorry if I frightened you. I hope you won’t dwell on it.
Louisa froze.
She hadn’t expected an apology for yesterday’s incident. Her thoughts scattered, and she didn’t know how to respond, only clutching the reports tightly in her hands.
After a moment, she turned back to him. “It’s fine. In the future, just don’t-”
Don’t do that again, she wanted to say.
But the words died on her lips. It felt inappropriate now.
He had already committed to someone else–naturally, he wouldn’t make advances toward a divorced woman like her anymore.
Her comment seemed unnecessary, so she left it unfinished.
Julian continued, “Don’t be afraid. I’m not some thug who would force you to do anything against your will. If I’ve made you uncomfortable, I apologize. Let’s pretend nothing happened. Can we do that?”
