Chapter 268
Teddy quickly pressed the button to close the doors, leaving George outside. Then he hit the gas, and the car sped away.
Sadie hadn’t even fastened her seatbelt. She lurched forward, her face smacking into the seat in front of her.

“Teddy,” she sighed, “aren’t you supposed to be the assistant to Julian Tudor, CEO of the Tudor Group? Could you maybe act a little more
dignified?”
Teddy grinned. “Sorry, sorry! I was afraid Mr. Capulet might climb on from behind. Better safe than sorry.”
Everyone fell silent. Was George a ghost who could materialize behind them?
Outside the police station, George watched the disappearing car, his face dark with rage. He made a call: “Jared, bring the car over here
now!”
As if he didn’t have his own transportation.
Two hours later, Julian’s car, packed with people, returned to their hotel.
Though everyone was starving by now, they were all too filthy to enjoy a meal properly.
In the elevator, Sadie turned to Jacob. “Jake, go shower in Noah’s room. We don’t have enough bathrooms since Louisa and I both need to
clean up.”
Jacob nodded obediently. “Got it, Sadie.”
Noah didn’t seem to mind. No one else had any objections.
Except Julian. His expression darkened slightly as he looked at Louisa. “Louisa, did you forget you have a black card linked to your phone account? Too stingy to get your ‘completely unrelated‘ little brother his own room?”
An awkward silence fell over the elevator.
Jacob gave Louisa a wounded look that seemed to say: ‘Is that what you told Julian? That we have no relationship? I’m hurt!‘
Sadie stared at Louisa in disbelief: ‘Julian gave you his black card and you didn’t tell me? What kind of best friend are you?‘
Noah and Teddy were thinking: ‘Julian, are you really this eager to stake your claim?‘
Cornered by everyone’s stares, Louisa had no choice but to turn and glare at Julian. “Mr. Tudor, have you forgotten this is work? Just

work.”
It had nothing to do with their personal lives.
Julian raised an eyebrow, looking displeased. Though his words were directed at Teddy, his eyes remained on Louisa. “Since Ms. Forbes is being so stingy, Teddy, go get this young man his own room.”
The jealousy and possessiveness radiated through the elevator. Everyone could feel Julian’s envy.
Sadie quickly jumped in. “Julian, Jake is my biological brother. Louisa treats him like her own brother. And he doesn’t sleep with us–he
has his own room.”
Julian showed no signs of backing down.
“Right away, sir,” Teddy said hastily. “I’ll go down and book him a room.”
“No need, no need!” Jacob protested. “I’ll stay with Sadie and Louisa-”
“Aren’t you a bit old to be staying with your sister?” Noah wrapped a muscular arm around Jacob’s shoulders. “My bed is huge. Sleep with
me tonight.”
Jacob’s expression screamed resistance. Could he say no? Who wanted to sleep with another man? He’d rather stay with Louisa.
Julian’s face remained expressionless, but his eyes flashed cold as they swept over Jacob’s face. This little guy was quite crafty, wasn’t he?
A moment later, Julian’s calm demeanor returned. “That settles it then,” he told Noah. “Take care of Jacob. Don’t let him wander off.”
“Don’t worry,” Noah grinned. “I’ll keep a close eye on him.”
Jacob was dying inside. No! No way!
His desperate gaze sought help from his sister and Louisa.
But Louisa felt Julian’s arm tighten around her waist, forcing her to look up at him. Meanwhile, Sadie suddenly found the ceiling and floor absolutely fascinating–anywhere but her brother’s pleading eyes.
Then the elevator doors opened.
Everyone filed out.
Jacob tried to follow.
Noah grabbed him around the neck. “Jacob, your sister told you to shower with me. Are you going to defy her?”

Before Jacob could protest, the elevator doors closed again.
Sadie still had concerns. “Hey, Louisa… Noah doesn’t have any… issues, does he?”
“What kind of issues?”
“I mean, his sexual orientation. He’s not gay, is he?”
“I don’t think so.”
“You don’t think so?”
“Probably not.”
“Probably?”
Was there no definitive answer?

Louisa wasn’t completely sure herself. She patted Sadie’s shoulder reassuringly. “Don’t worry so much. Even if Noah were gay, he wouldn’t force himself on anyone. If Jake doesn’t want anything to happen, what could Noah possibly do?”
Sadie had nothing more to say. Well, she just hoped her brother wouldn’t turn gay.
Back in their room, Louisa and Sadie showered. While they were blow–drying their hair, Louisa’s phone chimed.
A message from Julian: [I’ve ordered dinner. Come up and eat.]
Just a few words–familiar, natural, commanding, irresistible.
Louisa turned off her hair dryer and stared at her phone for a moment. She really didn’t feel like eating.
She was trying to figure out how to decline when another thought struck her. With everything strange that had happened today, might Julian know something?
Maybe she should go ask him.
She quickly got dressed and went to find Sadie in the bathroom. “Sadie, come upstairs with me for dinner?”
Sadie was about to ask where they were going, but one look at Louisa’s worried face told her everything. “Spare me, please. I want to eat alone. I don’t want to face Julian’s ice–cold expression again.”
“Where’s your loyalty?” Louisa complained.
“Just go,” Sadie urged, pushing her toward the door. “Ask Julian what happened today. He definitely knows something.”

With that, Sadie practically shoved her out the door.
Louisa had no choice but to take the elevator up to Julian’s floor.
His door was slightly ajar, unlocked.
She knocked gently.
Julian’s deep, magnetic voice came from inside: “Come in.”
