The next day at the investment department, she used her authority as Deputy Director to review all project files within her clearance level. This move stunned everyone, especially the team leaders who thought Louisa was trying to heal their projects. After a week, anxiety spread throughout the

department.

On the 36th floor, in the CEO’s office, Julian stared at the investment departments performance report, silent for a long time.

Teddy, however, could barely contain his excitement. “Just one week! In just one week, the entire department’s performance has increased by thirty percent. At this rate, it could double in a month! Ms. Hughes couldn’t achieve that in a year of running the department.

“Even Mr. Adams, who previously managed investments, took three years to double performance, and he used all sorts of shady tactics. I never imagined Louisa could accomplish this in a month. It’s miraculous.”

Teddy grew increasingly animated, practically ready to worship Louisa. Julian, however, showed no reaction, merely asking quietly, “How did she do it?”

“I just asked Marlee about that,” Teddy replied. “Louisa hasn’t actually interfered much with other projects. After reviewing the files, she just helped them avoid potential risks. For some of the trickier projects, she offered suggestions.”

“Her suggestions–do people listen?” Julian asked.

“Not at first. Erica Barber, the leader of Team Ten, was the first to try. She had an office building project stuck for over a month. After implementing Louisa’s suggestions, the project finally moved forward.

“After that success, Erica started consulting Louisa regularly. Team Ten was ranked last out of twelve teams for three consecutive months, but they’ve suddenly jumped to the top six.

‘Once that happened, everyone started following Louisa’s guidance, which led to the current results.”

Julian’s brow furrowed slightly. “Has she been working overtime lately?”

For a whole week, he hadn’t run into her coming or going from work.

Teddy was surprised that this was his boss’s concern. “I’m not sure about that.”

Julian gave him a cold look but didn’t pursue the question. “What’s the current suation in the department? Those self–interested veterans are happy to have Louisa solve their problems, but they’re probably worried she’ll take their buses, right?”

‘Exactly,‘ Teddy confirmed. “They’re all rushing to have Louisa solve their probles, afraid their teams will fall behind, But once the issues are resolved, they secretly plot against her.

“They’re happy to have the problems fixed, but sharing bonuses? Not happening

Teddy ventured cautiously, “But I don’t think Louisa is doing this for the bonuses She’s not someone who’s easily taken advantage of.”

Julian gave a cold smile. ‘She certainly has her purposes.”

That Louisa was still trying desperately to draw a line between them.

Julian had no intention of enlightening him. ‘Notify everyone. In fifteen minutes all team leaders and above in the investment department will meet.”

‘Yes, sir.”

Fifteen minutes later, in the investment department conference room, all twelve eam leaders plus Teresa had assembled, each in their designated seats. No

one knew the purpose of this hastily arranged meeting.

Julian rarely came to departmental meetings, usually sending Teddy to deliver announcements. His sudden decision to attend in person had everyone on

edge.

While waiting for Julian to arrive, the team leaders huddled together, whispering among themselves.

Teresa remained silent, arms crossed, maintaining her aloof demeanor.

Louisa wasn’t talking either. She had her elbow on the conference table, head resting on her hand, desperately trying to catch a few moments of sleep. She d

had very little rest all week.

This was the scene Julian and Teddy walked into when they entered the conference room. Julian’s expression darkened.

Everyone noticed and immediately felt a chill. They all called out in unison: ‘Good morning, Julian!”

Julian acknowledged them with a cool nod and took his seat at the head of the table.

Teresa was the first to speak. “What’s this last–minute meeting about? Do you have something to announce?”

Julian surveyed everyone present, then casually looked at Teresa. “Your department has been performing well lately. I came to see for myself.”
