Louisa said nothing, just looking at him. She trusted her own judgment.
She simply hadn’t expected that Julian, the cunning and devious president of the Tudor Group in everyone’s eyes, could have such a soft, kind sida. He clearly had the opportunity to gain more, yet he still left those people a way out.
Louisa was moved by this Julian, her eyes unconsciously reddening.
Julian noticed and his heart tightened. “What’s this? Just because I won’t help your
good friend, you’re going to cry for me?”
He used a joking tone to cover the tension and panic in his eyes.
“…It’s not that,” Louisa said. She turned away, facing away from Julian, quickly adjusting her emotions.
Julian watched her back, his gaze gradually deepening.
Not long after, the two steaks were ready. They carried them to the table and began eating. The meal passed in silence.
Having figured out Julian’s thinking, Louisa couldn’t pressure him anymore. After all, he had already given the Young Group enough time. It was the Young Group that hadn’t seized the opportunity or produced a sufficiently impressive proposal.
Louisa just felt sorry for Flora.
The Young Group had been Flora’s grandfather’s business from the beginning. Isaac wasn’t originally a Young–he had been adopted by Flora’s grandfather, and later married Flora’s mother before officially taking over the Young Group. It was Flora’s legacy. Louisa didn’t know how to help her.
As the meal was ending, Louisa finally asked quietly, “Is there really no way at all?”
Julian sighed. “If you want me to help her, you should at least tell me how you plan to help, right?”
This time, it wasn’t an outright refusal. Louisa thought she had misheard. She looked up at Julian, her eyes brightening. “You’ll help?”
Julian looked at her sparkling eyes, and a hint of a smile appeared in his own, though his tone was resigned. “How can I not? It’s rare for you to ask me for something. But you need to think clearly about how you want to help. When you figure it out, come tell me.”
‘Yes, Mr. Tudor.”
The smile returned to Louisa’s face.
Julian watched her, his gaze profound. “Happy now?”
Louisa met his eyes and felt her heart flutter. Was he willing to help just to make her happy? She suddenly felt something indescribable, a bittersweet sensation that made her want to cry. Why was he being so good to her?
She didn’t dare explore this question deeply and found an excuse to leave.
Julian watched her hasty retreat with resignation. This little coward was running away again.
