Chapter 304
Nicholas is in Silverlight City, Julian said. “We’re having lunch with him.
“Nicholas Getty?‘ Louisa asked. The man she’d only met once.
Her mind immediately conjured the image of Nicholas–tall with his impressive eight–pack abs.
Julian watched her drift into thought and coolly remarked, “Ms. Forbes, what’s got you so focused?”
Louisa snapped back to reality and flashed him a fake smile. “Nothing at all.”
Julian gave her a look that said he could see right through her. He lightly flicked her forehead, sighed, and walked away.
Louisa felt annoyed. How did he always manage to read her mind?
At lunchtime, she went to the parking lot to meet Julian. He was already in the car, along with Teddy and Noah. Louisa got in and greeted each of them.
Noah took out his phone and asked Julian, “Where are we going? What’s the restaurant called?”
“The Velvet Table, Julian replied.
“Oh, Noah responded.
He hadn’t been there before and needed to use navigation. After struggling to enter the address for a while, he asked, “Teddy, that place Mr. Tudor mentioned, The Velvet Table–how do you spell it? Do you know?”
“Only you don’t know.”
“Then help me enter it.”
Noah handed him the phone, but just as Teddy was about to take it, his own phone rang, and he answered it instead.
Louisa tapped the back of Noah’s seat. “No need for navigation. Let’s go, I’ll guide you.”
Noah casually asked, “Ms. Forbes, are you familiar with that restaurant?”
‘Yeah, I used to go there with- Louisa stopped abruptly.
She felt a chilly aura emanating from Julian beside her. She quickly caught herself and changed course. “I’ve been there before. The food and atmosphere are
both nice.”
Julian gave her a cool glance. “Seems you have quite a good memory, Ms. Forbes.”
“Well, thank you,” Louisa replied with an awkward smile.
Julian fell silent, his lowered eyes misting with coolness. His good mood had evaporated.
In the front seats, Teddy and Noah exchanged glances: ‘Uh–oh. Someone’s jealous.”

Louisa felt frustrated too. Memories were involuntary–they just popped into her head without warning. How was she supposed to control that?
The drive to The Velvet Table passed in deadly silence.
When they reached the parking lot, Julian asked Teddy and Noah to wait in the car while he took Louisa inside..
As soon as they entered the restaurant, the manager approached them, warmly greeting Julian first.
Then the manager spotted Louisa behind Julian and his eyes lit up. “Ms. Forbes, it’s been so long since you came with Mr. Capulet! Today-
The manager stopped mid–sentence as he met Julian’s cold, intimidating stare. Though he didn’t know Julian’s identity, his demeanor made it clear he wasn’t
just anybody.
The manager quickly swallowed his words.
Julian didn’t say anything but gave Louisa a lukewarm look. “You’re a regular. Why don’t you lead the way?”
“Actually, I haven’t been here in a long time. I’ve forgotten,” Louisa said.
“Is that so?”
Louisa nodded firmly. “Yes.”
Julian nodded. “I see. Guess it wasn’t a memorable place if you’ve forgotten. That’s understandable.”
Louisa fell silent.
Why did everything suddenly feel so… sour?
Realizing he’d said something wrong, the manager was practically sweating bullets. He quickly changed the subject and led them toward the private room.
The Velvet Table was aesthetically stunning, with an exquisitely designed courtyard featuring stained glass windows, pavilions, small bridges, and flowing
water.
Louisa used to enjoy dining here not just for the food that suited her taste, but also because the environment was so relaxing.
As they crossed an arched bridge, Julian casually asked, “Ms. Forbes, what’s behind that flower bed?”
“It’s- Louisa instinctively wanted to say it was a pond.
But she caught herself and feigned confusion. “What is it? I can’t seem to remember.”
“You’ve forgotten this too?”
‘I guess so. Can’t recall anything,” Louisa insisted.
Julian sighed. “Ms. Forbes, your memory seems truly poor. So young, yet possibly suffering from early–onset dementia? Perhaps I should arrange for a doctor to examine you.”
He pulled out his phone as if he was actually going to make the call.

Chapter 304
Louisa had had enough Forgetting his status, she tugged at his sleeve in frustration. “Will you stop?‘
Julian pretended to be troubled. Alright, I’ll let it go for today. Otherwise, our Ms. Forbes might get upset.”
With that, he took her hand in his, and the smile returned to his face.
Louisa didn’t pull away.
The manager, who had been sweating profusely, witnessed this transformation and nearly popped his eyes out. Just holding hands was enough to appease
Julian? How bizarre!
They continued walking.
Julian didn’t cause any more trouble along the way, and the atmosphere became much more pleasant.
But as they passed through the main hall of private rooms, Julian’s phone suddenly rang.
It was Nicholas calling.
Julian answered.
Nicholas sounded urgent on the other end. “It’s my mistake today, Julian. Get her out of there quickly.”

Julian frowned slightly, but before he could say anything, he saw someone coming around the corner–Nicholas’s second uncle, Gareth.
Julian’s face darkened, his voice turning icy. “Too late.”
Louisa, standing behind him, heard his words and wondered what was too late.
Julian had already hung up and turned to face her.
Before Louisa could understand what was happening, Julian took a mask from the reception desk, unwrapped it, and carefully put it on her.
Louisa was even more confused now, her eyes full of questions as she looked at Julian. “Why do I need a mask?”
‘I did a quick divination,” Julian said. “Your energy doesn’t align with this restaurant today. The mask will help avoid trouble.”
“You even know fortune–telling?”
“Don’t believe me?” Julian challenged.
Louisa fell silent. As if she would believe that.
Julian didn’t bother explaining further. Instead, he cupped the back of her head and pulled her against his chest, bending down to whisper in her ear: “Be good. Just trust me.”
His low, deep voice carried a hint of indulgence and tenderness that sent a tingle down her spine.
