Chapter 318
Julian gently ran his fingers through her hair, tracing her eyebrow with his fingertip. “You have your perspective, and I have mine. That’s fair, isn’t it?”
Louisa hesitated. “…Fair.”
“So, he continued, “you don’t want commitment, and that’s fine. But my philosophy is that I take responsibility for the people I care about. Nothing wrong with that, right?”
“Wait, let me think this through,” Louisa said. His question was a trap. She couldn’t let her emotions cloud her judgment.
Julian chuckled softly. “Don’t be nervous. I’m not trying to trick you, and I won’t force you into anything. Just hear me out, and I’ll give you time to consider. Okay?”
Louisa wanted to cry. She knew Julian’s nature–his words were likely a bottomless pit she shouldn’t fall into. Whatever. She’d hear him
out first.
Taking a deep breath, she said, “Go ahead.”
“I need to stabilize things with my parents, so I need a girlfriend,” Julian explained. “When I’m with a woman, I’m always thinking long-
term. But I won’t force you to make the same choice.
“You don’t want commitment? Fine. The final decision is yours. If someday you change your mind and don’t want to continue this
relationship, that’s also fine. Until then, we’ll each follow our own paths. What do you think?”
His pace was slow and gentle, rational and controlled, like he was discussing a business deal, step by step. He’d even mapped out an exit
strategy for her. It was as if a homeowner told her: live in my house, try it out, buy it or don’t–the choice is yours. I’ll only sell to you.
Even though she’d already indicated she might not “buy,” the owner still said, “It’s up to you.”
Were things ever this simple in real life? Even con artists wouldn’t be this transparent, would they?
Louisa felt like she was falling into an elaborate scheme. Yet she couldn’t deny the intense attraction she felt.
After struggling internally, she said, “Let me think about it.”
“Of course. Take your time. How about an hour?” Julian said, planting another kiss on her lips.
Louisa glared at him defensively. “No more kissing until I’ve made my decision.” How was she supposed to think clearly if he kept kissing
her?
Julian nodded with a smile. “Alright, no more kisses.”

Then he took her hand and led her toward his apartment. As he unlocked his door, Louisa snapped back to reality. “Why am I going to
your place?”
“You can stay at your place if you want,” Julian replied, “but Satan’s bed and food are at mine. The dog needs to rest and eat, right?”
Louisa looked back to see Satan indeed following them. She couldn’t understand why the dog was so eager. Reluctantly, she followed
Julian into his apartment.
He handed her a brand new, clean nightgown and a fresh towel. “Go take a shower. You can think while you’re in there.”
Louisa took the items and headed to the bathroom. Standing under the shower, as warm water cascaded over her body, she finally had her
moment of clarity.
She just wanted a casual hookup. How had she been sweet–talked into considering a relationship? Julian was quite the smooth talker.
Louisa dawdled for over an hour before finally turning off the shower. She dried herself and put on the nightgown Julian had prepared for her. It was her preferred style, her favorite color, her preferred fabric. Even the size was perfect.
Surely this wasn’t something he’d prepared for another woman? Had he planned this all along?
No, no, no. She couldn’t let Julian manipulate her. Even though his proposal was tempting. But there’s no such thing as a free lunch, and definitely no such thing as a no–strings–attached hot guy. Especially not a man of Julian’s caliber.
She couldn’t let momentary desire lead her astray. She should leave immediately.
Cautiously opening the bathroom door, she peered out. The living room appeared empty. Good. He wasn’t there. She could make her
escape.
But just as she reached for the front door, a familiar voice called from above: “Where are you going?”
Louisa looked up. Julian was coming down from upstairs. Since she’d occupied the first–floor bathroom, he’d used the one upstairs. Now he’d finished his shower too, dressed in a deep blue robe, his hair half–dry as he descended the stairs.
Louisa stared at his perfect physique, his solid chest muscles. Her mouth went dry. No, no, she couldn’t keep looking. She needed to make
an excuse.
Before she could speak, Julian was beside her. “You didn’t dry your hair? Come with me.”
Julian sat her down on the sofa and retrieved a hair dryer from the bathroom. He plugged it in and began drying her hair himself. The warm air made Louisa’s heart flutter again. She barely noticed when he finished.
Julian turned off the dryer and turned her to face him. Looking down at her, his gentle gaze sparkled like stars, with an indescribable allure. “An hour has passed. I even gave you an extra thirty minutes. So, have you decided? What’s your answer?”

Julian tightened his grip on her waist, pulling her closer. His deep eyes bore into hers. Tense, you can’t very dohyay 64. 78s or pa Give me an answer.
His breath was hot against her cheek. She lowered her head, afraid to meet his gaze.
Julian had always possessed excellent self–control. Even facing Louisa, whom he’d liked for years, he didn’t want to fore her Heated her to be one hundred percent willing.
So even as his desire threatened to break free, he restrained himself and asked again, ‘Still undecided? Should i make the decision the
you? But if I do, you can’t change your mind afterward.”
As he spoke, he lightly brushed her lips, barely touching them. His whispered words were like sweet nothings between lovers, pucking her
desire to its peak.
Louisa told herself she couldn’t be impulsive, that she had to resist temptation.
But she couldn’t resist.
Finally, she uttered that one word-
“Yes!”
