Julian waved her over. “Come here.”
Louisa figured he had some kind of solution, so she didn’t hesitate to get up and walk toward him.
They stood facing each other across the kitchen island.
[
Julian continued chopping vegetables while glancing up at her, a hint of amusement playing at his lips. “Ms. Forbes, you do realize you
could complain to your boyfriend about this, right?”
Louisa shot back, “Why would I complain? Do I need to complain?”
The words came out without hesitation, like she hadn’t even needed to think about it.
In her mind, “complaining” was the most boring and pathetic thing someone could do. She’d never stoop to using tactics like that.
Julian’s gaze turned distant as he looked at her, and he let out a soft sigh. Having such a capable girlfriend was sometimes pretty
exhausting.
Louisa wasn’t in the mood to dwell on any of this. The project situation completely consumed her mind. She settled onto one of the high barstools, propping her elbow on the island counter and resting her head in her hand. Her other hand absently tapped against the surface
while her brain churned through possible solutions.
Julian said, “If you can’t figure it out, stop thinking about it. Go home and change, then come back for dinner.”
“Okay.”
Louisa mumbled her agreement and headed back to her place.
Julian watched her figure disappear through the doorway, the warmth draining from his expression and replaced by an icy coldness.
He knew exactly what Teresa was capable of. Originally, he’d thought that as long as she minded her own business and stuck to her assigned duties without causing trouble for Louisa, he wouldn’t mind keeping a position for her at the Tudor Group.
But she just had to pretend she knew more than she did and create problems. Looks like it was time to hand the investment department
over to Louisa.
People could be stupid–that wasn’t the problem. The problem was when they were too stupid to realize it.
Meanwhile, Louisa had returned home and stood in front of her closet picking out clothes.

Chapter 328
After changing, she sat at her vanity doing her makeup and fixing her hair. Suddenly, inspiration struck like lightning.
She knew exactly how to handle this situation.
She immediately opened her laptop and started rewriting the proposal.
20
In the middle of her work, Julian called to tell her to come over for dinner. She mumbled something in response, put her phone down, and
completely forgot about eating.
By the time she finished revising the proposal, an hour had passed. She carefully reviewed everything–while this version required more
investment and a larger scope of work, it would take the project’s profitability to the next level.
She was confident that with this proposal, Rodney wouldn’t keep harping on about those five percentage points of profit. After all, Rodney
knew those five points had been said in anger, and Julian would never agree to them anyway.
So she felt pretty sure she could convince Rodney to resume their partnership.
With that thought, she closed her laptop while calling Marlee to set up a meeting with Rodney. Then she gathered her things, ready to
head to the office, having completely forgotten about dinner with Julian.
But the moment she stepped outside, she saw Satan waiting there. He was literally blocking her doorway.
That’s when she remembered she’d left her boss hanging for a whole hour. Great.
After they finally ate, she and Julian rode to the company together in the same car.
Louisa spent the entire ride with her head down, texting and arranging work details.
Julian sat beside her, occasionally shooting her meaningful looks. “Ms. Forbes, keeping busy, I see.”
“Yeah, a little busy.”
Louisa answered absently.
Julian fell silent.
Up front, Noah and Teddy were trying not to crack up. Was Julian actually jealous of work? Did he think Louisa cared only about her job,
not about him?
Louisa remained completely unaffected and couldn’t care less what the three of them were thinking. She threw herself into work mode, arranging all the prep work before texting Marlee again to ask about scheduling with Rodney,
Now all that was left was meeting with Rodney face–to–face. Though she had a feeling he wouldn’t be easy to pin down.

Chapter 328
She was still worrying about this when her phone buzzed. Sure enough.
Marlee replied: [Mr. Moss says he doesn’t have time for the next two weeks and told us to get in line.
Louisa went quiet.
That message practically dripped with attitude. Rodney was obviously still pissed and didn’t want to see her.
But this couldn’t wait–it needed to be resolved quickly.
Suddenly, she glanced at Julian beside her, a spark of hope in her eyes.
Julian caught her look. “What, want me to help you set up a meeting with Mr. Rodney Moss?”
Louisa asked tentatively, “Would that be possible?”

Getting her boss to make appointments for her was definitely pushing it. But she couldn’t get through to Rodney on her own.
And someone at Rodney’s level traveled everywhere with a pack of bodyguards–even if she tried alternative approaches, her chances were
pretty slim.
Having Julian reach out would be much more effective. Rodney wouldn’t dare blow off Julian’s invitation outright.
But Julian coolly tossed the question right back at her. “What do you think?”
Louisa said, “I think it’s totally doable.”
Julian replied, “Is that so?”
Louisa was going crazy with his wishy–washy attitude, her tone turning sharp. “Julian, what’s your deal? Don’t forget this whole mess was
without caused by your precious little sister. If she hadn’t stuck her nose where it didn’t belong, I would’ve already wrapped this up
needing you to get involved.”
Her sudden fierce tone made Noah and Teddy jump in the front seat. Was Louisa really this bold? Actually snapping at the CEO?
But Julian didn’t get angry–he just clarified, “Teresa and I aren’t related.”
Louisa shot back, “Right, no blood relation. Just siblings.”
Julian chuckled. “Louisa, are you jealous?”
“No!”
She immediately protested.

Chapter 328
Julian went quiet. His heart sank a little.
He decided to stop talking altogether and reached over to wrap his arm around her waist, pulling her onto his lap.
Louisa startled at his sudden move. Noah and Teddy were right there in front–was he seriously being this brazen?
She immediately tried to push him away and get off his lap. But the next second, Teddy raised the partition screen.
Now the front and back sections of the car were separated, turning the rear seat where Julian and Louisa sat into a private little space.
Louisa stared at this development in shock. Did Teddy and Noah think she and Julian were about to do something in the car?
Though no one was watching, she did feel much more comfortable. She tugged at Julian’s shirt near his waist and looked up at him, asking with complete directness, “Simple question–are you going to help me or not?”
