Chapter 370
Louisa glanced around. No Teddy, no Noah.
Just Julian alone.
If he were out working or handling business, Teddy would definitely be with him.
But now it was just him.
Louisa was certain – he’d come looking for her.
Julian sat down across from her.
Even though the shabby night market stall clashed completely with his custom–tailored suit, he showed no trace of disdain.
He looked at Louisa with a faint smile. “Does Ms. Forbes mind treating me to a bowl of lobster ravioli?”
Only then did Louisa react, telling the owner to add another bowl.
Then she asked Julian: “If you were looking for me, why didn’t you call?
He’d tracked her down in person.
Julian gazed at her meaningfully. “My girlfriend’s unhappy. If I’m not more perceptive, won’t I lose my girlfriend altogether?”
“I’m not unhappy.”
Louisa reflexively protested.
Julian glanced at the demolished ravioli in her bowl, then back at her. “So you’re happy, then?”
Louisa couldn’t find words.
In the adult world, there weren’t so many extremes of happiness or unhappiness. Her emotional state was fairly calm.
She was just a bit distracted, that’s all.
Though she couldn’t quite pinpoint why she was distracted.
She lowered her head to eat her ravioli.
The owner brought out another steaming bowl and placed it in front of Julian.
Julian pushed his bowl toward Louisa, then pulled her bowl – with its broken wrappers and now–cold contents – in front of himself.
Louisa looked at him in surprise, not understanding.
Julian: I’m starving. I’ll eat first. You wait.”

Louisa fell silent.
During the meal, Julian said nothing more, so she didn’t speak either.
When they finished, she asked the owner for the payment code,
She’d just pulled out her phone to scan when Julian had already done so and was about to pay.
Louisa quickly pressed down on his hand. I’m treating.”
Julian gave her a bland look. “You invite, I pay. What’s the problem?”
The owner, also a woman, smiled at Louisa. “Miss, your boyfriend is so good to you. You’re really lucky.”
Louisa politely thanked her, feeling a bit embarrassed, and stopped arguing with Julian.
After paying, Julian rode back with her in her car.
His reason: Teddy had driven his car away.
Louisa had no choice but to take him home.
They didn’t talk much on the drive.
Louisa thought that would be the end of it.
But when she reached her door and went to unlock it, Julian pressed up behind her.
Louisa jumped, no longer daring to open the door. She turned to face him. “Go to your own place.”
Julian’s arms wound around her waist, pulling her into his embrace. He lowered his head to rest his forehead against hers, his tone aggrieved. ‘I want to go home with my girlfriend.”
“No, no, no.
Louisa immediately refused.
Julian looked even more displeased. “Why not?”
Louisa thought for a moment. “We’ve had too much meat the past couple of days. Today we need vegetables. Cultivate some restraint.”
Julian laughed, seemingly in better spirits.
He brushed a light kiss across her lips. “Who says boyfriends and girlfriends being together only means sex? Ms. Forbes, your thoughts are impure.”
Louisa’s face flushed at his words.
Just as she was about to push him away, his kiss descended.
Not exactly gentle – tinged with fierceness, as if trying to steal away her thoughts and breath.

Louisa truly couldn’t think about anything else.
Julian had her pinned against the dont.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, returning his kiss.
Several times, she felt like she couldn’t breathe, but she didn’t want to let go of him.
After who knows how long, Julian finally released her lips.
But he still clung to her. While letting her catch her breath, he nibbled at her lips, his voice low: “Sure you won’t let your boyfriend come home with you?”
Louisa hesitated, then nodded. “I want to rest.”
With him there, she couldn’t rest properly.
Julian stopped pressuring her. “Fine.”
Though his words were acquiescent, his actions still didn’t release her.
Another kiss ended. Louisa’s legs had gone weak.
If they kept kissing like this, she’d have no say in how tonight went.
She pushed at his waist, steering him toward his own door.
Julian didn’t even open it.
Clearly, he really didn’t want to go home.
Louisa unlocked it for him and pushed him inside.
Afraid he’d change his mind, she didn’t hesitate even a second before locking the door.
Julian stood inside, looking at the closed door, and sighed helplessly.
He could tell Louisa had something on her mind.
If she’d actually encountered some problem, he could solve it.
But he could clearly sense Louisa’s confusion.
She probably didn’t even know it herself.
All he could do was wait.
In fact, Julian’s instinct was right.

Louisa didn’t know where this confusion was coming from either.
All night she tossed and turned, unable to sleep soundly.
The next day, as soon as she got to the office, she saw Tefesa.
Teresa seemed to be in good spitits – even greeted her warmly with none of yesterday’s hostility, as if nothing had happened.
But Louisa had come to understand Teresa somewhat. Given Teresa’s mindset and her obsession with julian, there was no way she could recover like this
overnight.
Clearly, Adeline had smoothed things over with her.
Louisa suddenly understood where yesterday’s confusion had come from.
She’d sensed Adeline wouldn’t let this slide quietly.
And now Teresa was back at the company, calmly accepting her demotion.
This wasn’t about coming back to work.
Teresa had clearly returned to wage war on her.
Louisa smiled faintly and returned to her office.
There was a department morning meeting.
Now that Louisa had been promoted, she naturally took the Director’s seat at the head of the table.
Teresa sat in Louisa’s former spot.
Louisa didn’t put on any “new boss” airs, just briefly discussed some work matters.
But she’d already earned the entire department’s recognition and respect. Everyone had witnessed her capabilities and understood this Director position would have been hers sooner or later.
That created an invisible pressure and presence.
The meeting ended quickly.
Everyone started packing up to leave.
Louisa picked up her notebook and phone, preparing to go as well.
Teresa didn’t move, still sitting in her seat. She looked at Louisa and spoke softly: “Ms. Forbes, could you wait a moment? I have something I’d like to say to
you.”
Louisa paused.
The other twelve team leaders immediately sensed the tension.

After all, with the former Director and Deputy Director now having switched positions, war was inevitable.
Everyone quickly scattered.
Only Louisa and Teresa remained in the conference toom.”
Louisa took the initiative: “What did you want to say, Ms. Hughes?”
