Chapter 384
It was a group of young secretaries chatting, each voice more excited than the last:
“Did you hear? Ms. Hughes got demoted again–straight down to Investment Department Team Leader.”
“Ms. Hughes is so proud. Two consecutive demotions must be killing her inside.”

“I heard she already went to see the Chairman’s wife. When the Chairman wife adopted her back then, she wanted her to become a Tudor family daughter–in–law. The Chairman’s wife is determined to match her with Mr. Tudor–she definitely won’t let her stay demoted like this.”
“What do you mean? Is the Chairman’s wife going to make a move? Drive Ms. Forbes away from Mr. Tudor?”
“Then there won’t be any show to watch.”
“Right? I heard that many years ago, both our Mr. Tudor and his older brother were madly in love with Ms. Hughes, and in the end, Mr. Tudor backed out. I think Mr. Tudor still really likes Ms. Hughes. He’s only with Ms. Forbes to provoke Ms. Hughes.”
“Exactly! Isn’t that how it’s written in novels? Getting together with a new love to provoke the old one. I really want to see–if Ms. Forbes and
Ms. Hughes actually go to war, who will Mr. Tudor choose?”
‘I think it’ll definitely be Ms. Hughes. I’m also looking forward to seeing the CEO publicly show affection with his new love while his heart still
deeply loves the old flame. That would be so entertaining.”
“But I think Ms. Forbes isn’t inferior either. She’s way prettier than Ms. Hughes.”
“But so what if she’s prettier? They don’t match in status. I think our Mr. Tudor will ultimately choose Ms. Hughes. After all, they grew up together–perfect match.”
“True…”
Louisa’s grip on the document tightened sharply.
Though she told herself internally not to care about these things, that Julian wasn’t that kind of person.
That she should just follow her own pace.
But her mind involuntarily recalled many years ago, when she was with George and Hazel had repeatedly approached her privately, wanting her to take money and leave George.
She had steadfastly chosen George. Later, Hazel stopped offering money and started using all kinds of ugly words to insult her.
Thinking back now, why did she endure all that for a man?
Just because they didn’t match in status, she deserved to be insulted by them?
She took one last look at Julian’s tightly cl
office door. She didn’t wait for him anymore and returned to her own office with the document.

Louisa replied, Didn’t go in.”
She began packing her things.
Teddy checked his watch. ‘It’s only a bit after three. still early before quitting time. What are you doing?
Louisa answered, “Going out to do some field research.”
Her tone was flat, showing no particular emotion.
Teddy mumbled an acknowledgment.
Louisa said goodbye to him, grabbed her things, and left.
The project file in her hand was for an ocean PAAS platform construction project she’d discovered some time ago.
She’d already done preliminary research and found it feasible, but it required cooperation with an oceanography university or ocean research laboratory to establish a joint lab.
Because of this requirement, she hadn’t made a firm decision. Plus, with other matters at hand, she’d temporarily shelved the project.
She’d gone to find Julian earlier to discuss it further and see what he thought.
Now she’d come out on her own.
She might as well visit all the research teams she’d been considering.
By the time only the Ocean University remained, it was already 5:50.
She sat in her car, taking a sip of water and catching her breath.”
That’s when Julian’s call came through.
‘Busy?”
He asked in an even tone.
He probably didn’t know she’d left the office.
Louisa didn’t elaborate, simply responding, “Yes. Busy.”
Julian said, “Wait for me half an hour after work. Once I’m done here, I’ll take you to dinner.”

Louisa paused for a few seconds before telling him the truth. Im not at the office. I came out to do some field research. When I’m done, I’ll head straight home. Not coming back to the office.”
Julian asked, “You went to do field research–why didn’t you tell me?
toulka laughed, a carefree kind of laugh. Mr. Tudor, this is my normal work. I don’t need to report such small matters to you, do I? Otherwise you’d be worked to death, wouldn’t you?”
Julian fell silent.
Indeed, she didn’t need to report such things to him.
But he just felt that she didn’t put him in her heart at all.
Louisa sensed his mood. Her tone softened slightly. “Alright, don’t be upsets I have a meeting scheduled, and the time’s almost up. Talk later.
Without waiting for his response, she hung up.
Everything seemed normal.
But Julian just felt something was off with her.
Like something had happened.
He pulled out his phone to check her location.
That red dot kept moving across the map.
Julian put down his phone and made an internal call. “Teddy, come in.”
Less than ten seconds later, Teddy entered.
Julian asked, “Did you see Louisa this afternoon?”
Teddy nodded. “Yes, why?”
Julian pressed, “Did she seem off in any way?”
Teddy thought about it. “Not really. She was working the whole time. We chatted briefly, then she seemed to think of something and took a document to find you. Not long after, she came back, packed up her things, and left to do field research.”
