Julian gave Orion a lukewarm glance, then pulled Louisa back to his side before saying, “We’re going out for some fresh air.”
Orion looked confused. “Fresh air?”
Julian said, “Don’t you think it’s getting more and more toxic in there? More and more people losing control of their emotions, like
zombies having an episode.”
Orion’s expression changed.
Briar and Teddy, walking behind them, felt their scalps prickling.
They’d noticed too, of course–they just didn’t dare think about it that way.
Louisa unconsciously tightened her grip on Julian’s hand.
Julian patted her hand reassuringly and told the others, “The so–called treasure hunt is just testing everyone’s personality, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. I have to say, it’s the most direct method.”
“Damn it!” Briar cursed angrily.
Louisa understood now. “This was a cult from the start. Naturally, their methods are evil.”
Teddy kept shaking. “Can we go home?”
Briar laughed. “Dream on!”
Go home? As if.
As they spoke, they’d already walked out the first–floor castle entrance.
The weather was gloomy. It wasn’t raining, but the damp, cool breeze made people shiver involuntarily.
Louisa was already wearing Julian’s suit jacket, so she didn’t feel cold–in fact, her mind felt much clearer.
Orion took off his suit jacket and gave it to Briar.
Teddy looked around in alarm. “The bridge… the bridge is gone…”
Everyone looked where he pointed. The suspension bridge they’d crossed to get here–that essential path–was broken in the middle.
At a glance, the center was completely empty, as if it had disappeared.

Was this telling them not to think about leaving early?

Julian said, “Even if the bridge wasn’t broken, with everyone on the island, leaving wouldn’t be easy. They’re doing this just to increase the guests‘ fear. If you’re truly scared, you’re playing right into their hands.”
As he spoke, he glanced coolly at Teddy.
But Teddy was still afraid–especially after hearing that, he was even more scared.
After being blown by the cold wind and no longer under the incense’s control, Louisa had calmed down considerably.
She comforted Teddy. “It’s fine. I’m scared too. Being scared isn’t a crime.”
She gave Teddy an encouraging look.
Teddy nodded gratefully. Louisa was the humane one–unlike his boss…
Julian gave him a cold look.
Teddy quickly withdrew his resentful gaze.
Just then, four more people emerged from the main castle building.
Two men, two women.
One of the men was the Singaporean tycoon who’d approached Julian earlier–Ethan Morris.
The two women were still his companions.
As for the other man, he looked hostile, eyeing Ethan’s two female companions with obvious intent.
Ethan quickly walked up to Julian. “Mr. Tudor, are you heading toward the forest? Should we travel together?”
His words were sincere and earnest, concealing the calculation in his eyes.
But Louisa still caught it.
Presumably, he figured Julian had the best chance of finding the necklace and wanted to ride Julian’s coattails to get it himself.
Julian smiled politely. “Mr. Morris, you jest. This place isn’t mine. You can walk any path you like without seeking my permission.
The implication: They wouldn’t partner up, but if he wanted to shamefully tag along, Julian wouldn’t drive him away either.

Ethan nodded somewhat awkwardly.
Julian ignored him and pulled Louisa along, leading the group toward the forest.
When passing the main castle building, Louisa looked up at the room they’d stayed in.
She recalled the earlier scene of someone falling
But there was no body on the ground, no bloodstains.
And she was certain she hadn’t been mistaken–it really had been that foreign woman Yvaine.
Most importantly, their room curtain had been closed at the time.
The person had fallen right when fullan opened the curtain.
That ‘coincidentall?
A cold breeze blew. She auditimby pitad awake, enlightened.
She thought she understand now
The answer was actually quite simple
“Let’s go. Let’s check ahead.”
falian pulled her away from the scome.
The others remained silent, but their expressions were grim. No one wanted to discuss this latest supernatural incident.”
They reached the forest’s edge.
Looking around, everything was pitch black. The green spotlights shining from deep within the forest created a cozy yet fantastical atmosphere.
Ballan held her hand, walking at the front
