The rest of the night passed peacefully.

The next morning, guests with dark circles under their eyes straggled into the buffet hall.

Julian and his group were nowhere to be seen, prompting speculation: Did they sneak away in the night?

Julian waited for her to wake before they went downstairs together.

However, Briar’s family had opposed it, so she’d had no choice but to retire.

After escorting Raina away first, Briar had tossed her into the mushroom attic. Then she’d quietly taken down the other three and thrown them in as well.

As for why Ethan’s two female companions were wearing the same dress as Louisa–it was to swap her out in the forest without anyone noticing.

But Louisa had been wearing Julian’s purple jacket the whole time, so the plan fell apart.
