Louisa heard him but didn’t respond to Orion’s complaint.
What did he have to be wistful about?
Orion and Briar were engaged, childhood sweethearts from well–matched families. Except for incompatible sexual orientations, they were perfectly suited in every other way
And her and Julian?
Besides compatible sexual orientations, they didn’t match anywhere else.
After breakfast, everyone gathered on the outdoor lawn for the so–called ‘business networking.”
Basically, free time.
Sunlight poured down, illuminating the castle’s lush gardens, dispelling the previous night’s gloom and terror. It felt like everything had passed.
Indeed, the highlight of this Chamber event had been last night. The curtain had already fallen.
Now it was just going through the motions. Everyone seemed distracted, eager to leave.
Finally, noon arrived. The suspension bridge had been reconnected, and everything had returned to normal.
After lunch, Lilith came out to bid everyone farewell.
The guests left the castle one by one in carriages, retracing their route.
They’d have to stop at the cabin to change back into their original clothes before boarding the helicopters home.
Louisa assumed this networking event had reached a fairly clear conclusion. Julian’s “debut performance had been impressive.
But as they rode back to the cabin in the carriage, Noah suddenly said, “The Lilith we met on the first day wasn’t Yvaine. Mr. Tudor, where do you think the real Lilith went? Why would she swap herself out?”
Instantly, Louisa felt like her scalp had exploded.
Julian snapped at Noah, “You talk too much.”
Noah fell silent.
Louisa was still reeling from shock.
She’d thought she’d figured out the whole thing. Now someone was telling her she’d gotten it wrong?
She turned to Julian, somewhat annoyed. What did he mean?
Did he think she wasn’t smart enough? That she was in the way? That he didn’t want to tell her the truth? Or was he trying to keep her out of it?

Chapter 472
Julian felt his scalp tingle under her stare. He took her hand, saying helplessly, ‘I wasn’t trying to hide it from you. I wanted to tell you after we left the island. We broke the rules once–that doesn’t mean we can keep breaking them. Otherwise, we’ll all be in danger.”
Louisa fell silent for a moment.
She knew he was right. The anger in her heart gradually subsided, but she still pulled her hand from his.
Julian sighed helplessly and glanced out of the carriage. They were getting farther and farther from the castle.
He let out a breath. At last night’s banquet, Noah told me Lilith was wearing a skin mask, so I deliberately spilled water and used the chance to touch the skin on her hand. It wasn’t fake skin. Judging from its condition, she was very young.”
Louisa was stunned.
Young?
No matter how well someone took care of themselves, with age, even the best skin would lose elasticity.
Yvaine was fairly well–preserved, but last night when Louisa had been close to her, she’d still noticed faint lines on Yvaine’s neck–marks left only by time.
And Julian was saying Lilith was very young…
So the Yvaine she’d seen after tearing off the skin mask in the room and the “Lilith” at the banquet–they really weren’t the same person?
Did that mean the Lilith at the banquet was the real Lilith?
Seeing her confused expression, Noah couldn’t help but chime in. “Ms. Forbes, Mr. Tudor is right. They differed by an inch in height, and their scents were
different. I wouldn’t get that wrong.”
Louisa’s mouth twitched. “An inch… you could tell that?”
Noah said, “Yeah. Can’t you?”
Louisa fell silent.
She turned to Julian. “Can you?”
Julian was silent for two seconds. The “yes” that had been on the tip of his tongue was forcibly swallowed.
He said, “I can’t either. Noah’s been professionally trained. We shouldn’t compare ourselves to him.”
Louisa said nothing, but a heavy sense of defeat weighed on her.
She hadn’t noticed Lilith’s skin condition, hadn’t spotted the one–inch difference, and had thought she’d figured everything out. The feeling wasn’t pleasant.
Julian said, “If Noah hadn’t told me about the skin mask, I wouldn’t have known they were two different people either. It’s not that you’re slow–I already knew the truth beforehand. That’s basically cheating. Without any prior knowledge, you did really well.”
Louisa forced a smile.
Noah smiled secretly to himself: Mr. Tudor really knows how to sweet–talk.

Chapter 472
Teddy thought helplessly: He only sweet talks Louisa. With anyone else, they’d have been poisoned by the arsenic on his tongue.
Louisa quickly adjusted her mindset and declared resolutely, ‘Next time, I’ll definitely figure it out before you do.”
Julian fell silent.
Even this could trigger her competitive spirit?
Louisa asked Noah, ‘If she appears again next time, could you recognize her?”
Noah shook his head honestly. “No. In different environments and temperatures, scents change. Height and build alone aren’t enough.”
Hearing his words, scattered memory fragments suddenly flashed through Louisa’s mind.
