Adeline had thought finding the girl in the green dress would be easy. She just needed to grab Xanthe and ask.
But Xanthe had vanished, and the surveillance footage from that night had been destroyed.
Left with no other option, she started contacting all the ladies who’d attended the ball, asking about the girl in green.
Days had passed. She hadn’t found the real one, but plenty of imposters had shown up.
Not a single useful lead.
She was so worried she’d lost her appetite. Even at dinner, she barely touched her food.
Meanwhile, her husband and children ate heartily.
Because of Adeline’s hospitalization, all the Tudor children had come home.
Alicia scrolled through her phone while eating breakfast. After a moment, she held it up to Adeline. “Mom, someone says her daughter
wore a green dress that night. Is this her?”
Adeline glanced at it. “No.”
Amelia couldn’t help but interject. “Take a closer look.”
Adeline said, “I could stare at it all day—it’s still not her. This girl’s waist is too thick. Her torso and legs are the same length. The girl in
green had a tiny waist, long legs, a full chest, perfect proportions, beautiful skin, and stunning eyes.”
Alicia rubbed her forehead. “Mom, are you sure you’re not romanticizing your savior? Slim waist, long legs, beautiful skin, gorgeous face- sounds like a goddess,”
Amelia couldn’t help but laugh.
Adeline glared at her two daughters in annoyance,
Jeffrey calmly cut his steak, speaking as he worked. “Mom’s putting out feelers like this–people are going to think she’s picking a wife for
Julian. Of course they’re all going to pitch their daughters.”
William sighed. “So your mother’s grasping at straws.”
Adeline was already in a bad mood, and now her family was piling on.
She was even more irritated.

But she couldn’t bring herself to scold her children. Instead, she turned her annoyed gaze on William. “You’re so smart. You’re so capable.
Why don’t you come up with a solution?”
William said, “Didn’t I already tell you? Louisa was there that night. Why don’t you ask her? At least she won’t lie like those other ladies.
Maybe she’ll actually have something useful.”
Adeline snapped, “Just shut up!”
She was too angry to say another word.
Seeing this, Justin hopped down from his chair, personally poured her a glass of orange juice, and said sweetly, “Mommy, Mommy, don’t
be mad.”
Adeline’s temper cooled a little. She patted his head. “Justin’s the best.”
Justin sat down in the chair beside her, propping his chin in his hands. “Mommy, is the lady in green really that pretty? Is she the
prettiest person you’ve ever seen? There’s no one prettier?”
“No one. She’s a goddess,” Adeline said curtly.
Justin grew even more curious, muttering, “A goddess? That’s hard!”
Everyone looked puzzled.
Hard?
What did he mean?
Justin’s bright eyes darted to William. “Daddy, have you ever seen a lady as beautiful as Mommy described?”
William didn’t hesitate. “Yeah.”
Louisa’s face immediately flashed in his mind.
If they were talking about a goddess–level beauty, he figured only Louisa fit the bill.
But the moment the word left his mouth, everyone at the table turned to stare at him in unison.
William’s scalp prickled under their identical gazes. He quickly tried to explain to his wife. “That’s not what I meant, I meant you could
try expanding your search, no need to-”
“So you’re the one looking to expand, is that it?” Adeline smiled coldly.
William was speechless. He caught his youngest son’s mischievous look and snapped, “You little brat, you did that on purpose!”

Chapter 478
Justin shook his head innocently.
:
Adeline, fed up, turned to her son. “Jonathan, take your father out of here. I don’t want to see him.”
Jonathan said nothing. He stood, grabbed William by the arm, and started dragging him out. “Come on, Dad. Mom doesn’t want to see
you.
“Ungrateful brats! All of you! Ungrateful!”
William’s roar echoed through the villa.
The next day, Julian’s plane touched down in Silverlight City in the evening.
He had Xanthe taken away. Then he, Louisa, Noah, and Teddy returned to Cozy Community.
Bob opened the door to four travel–worn faces.
Louisa’s especially–she’d visibly lost weight.
Bob said with concern, “Louisa, look at you–you’ve gotten so thin. You must not have been eating properly on your trip. I made lots of
good food. Come over later and eat…”
“Okay.” Louisa agreed without a second thought.
Julian watched her and couldn’t help but laugh.
Bob was a little thrown–he hadn’t even finished his sentence. Was she really that eager?
When Noah and Teddy saw Bob, they nearly cried with joy. They latched onto his arms like he was their savior.
They asked eagerly what was for dinner tonight.
Bob looked at them, bewildered, as if they hadn’t eaten in three days. Had there been a famine abroad?
Everyone thought: Not a famine. A haunting.
Louisa dropped her luggage off at home. She didn’t even shower–just washed her hands, changed into comfortable loungewear, and
headed next door.
Seeing the spread of delicious, fragrant dishes, her eyes lit up. She even swallowed reflexively.
Bob laughed and handed her a small bowl of soup. “Help me taste this.”
Louisa downed it in one gulp.
