Louisa looked at the message and laughed coldly. Adeline wanted her gone before Julian came back.
She wasn’t leaving them any room at all.
Though this was the outcome Louisa had expected all along.
She and Julian–there was only one ending: breaking up.
She’d been mentally prepared for it.
But when the day actually came, she realized she could barely breathe from the pain.
The next day, she went to work as usual.

She didn’t tell anyone she was leaving.
She spent the entire day in the investment department.
Since she didn’t have an office there, she sat in Marlee’s.
Marlee was now the leader of Team Seven.
Everyone thought it was strange to see Louisa there.
But they were also happy to have her. The team leaders kept coming in and out of Marlee’s office, consulting Louisa on various issues.
Louisa pat
plained everything to them.
When no one was around, she quietly watched the employees coming and going outside, suddenly remembering how when she’d first joined the investment department, she hadn’t even had a desk.
In less than two months, she’d become the director of investments.
And now, she was leaving.
A deep sense of reluctance welled up inside her.
After all, this was a place where she’d poured her heart and effort.

Chapter 490
The second day.
Louisa reached out to a few close friends, inviting them to dinner that evening.
Except for Flora, who didn’t answer, both Sadie and Rachel agreed.
That night, they met at a restaurant.
Louisa even ordered two bottles of wine.
Both Sadie and Rachel felt something was off with Louisa, but when they asked, she said nothing was wrong.
In the end, all three of them drank too much.
Sadie urged Louisa to stop drinking–her stomach wasn’t good, she couldn’t keep going like this.
Louisa poured herself another full glass.
She thought: if her stomach hurt, then it hurt.
If her stomach hurt, maybe her heart would hurt less.
But even after downing a bottle of high–proof liquor, her stomach didn’t hurt. Her heart only felt worse.
By the time she got home, it was very late.
Louisa collapsed onto her bed and drifted off in a haze.
The third day. The last day.
Louisa
flight to the northwest region for the next day, first thing in the morning.
She had no mood to work. She sat in her office, staring blankly out the window at the lighthouse.
She wanted so badly to see Julian one more time.
Just once would be enough.
These past few days, she hadn’t dared think about him.
But now that the thought had surfaced, longing came crashing over her like a tidal wave.

Chapter 490
She picked up her phone, ready to throw caution to the wind and call him.
But as her finger hovered over the last digit, she froze.
She steadied her emotions.
After a moment of thought, she called Teddy instead…
Little did she know, Teddy was with Julian at that very moment.
The two had been talking.
Then the phone suddenly rang.
Teddy saw Louisa’s name on the screen and felt the icy, murderous glare shooting at him from across the room. He
wanted to die.
