The balance in his tone was perfectly calibrated.
Sadie already felt the crushing pressure bearing down on her.
Louisa, however, remained composed from start to finish.
She smiled faintly, her own voice equally measured and polite. “Thank you for receiving us personally, Mr. Young. We’re friends of Flora.
We haven’t been able to reach her the last few days–she didn’t even pick up for our dinner two nights ago. We’re worried, so we came to
check on her.”
Her words were courteous. She didn’t directly call out the fact that Isaac was holding Flora captive.
64
Isaac was somewhat surprised by Louisa’s presence. This young woman not only had a strikingly beautiful face, but she could remain this
composed even under his pressure.
Quite rare, indeed.
He said slowly, “Ms. Forbes, if you’re truly Flora’s friend, why did you introduce yourself using your title as Investment Director of the
Tudor Group?”
The implication: Since you threw the Tudor Group’s name around, shouldn’t we discuss the Young Group’s request for financing?
Louisa remained unhurried, smiling lightly. “The gates of the Young Villa aren’t easy to get through. If I hadn’t dropped Mr. Tudor’s name,
I doubt I’d have made it inside.”
Her blunt honesty left Isaac momentarily at a loss.
So he laid it out plainly. “Flora is getting married soon. She’s been busy preparing for the wedding. I’m afraid she doesn’t have time to
entertain you.”
The subtext: If the Tudor Group won’t help, I’ll have no choice but to send Flora into a marriage alliance.
Now Louisa and Sadie understood the truth behind Flora’s captivity. Flora must have refused the arranged marriage, so Isaac had forcibly
confined her.
That shameless bastard was using this method to coerce his own daughter.
Sadie wanted to curse him out.
Louisa held her composure. Even facing Isaac’s shamelessness, she showed no hint of anger, smiling as she said, “Given the relationship Flora and I have, there’s no need for something as formal as entertaining‘ us. If she’s getting married, as her friends, we should at least

see her off and help with the wedding preparations.”
Isaac replied, “The Young family has servants handling everything. No need to trouble you both.”
Sadie fumed. This shameless old bastard was determined to force Louisa into compromising.
She glanced at Louisa with growing concern.
But Louisa refused to follow Isaac’s script.
She kept that calm, steady smile, though her eyes were filled with resolve. “What if we insist on seeing her?”
Isaac’s expression cooled. “Ms. Forbes, this is the Young Villa.”
The meaning was clear: Now that she was here, whether she agreed or not was no longer up to her.
At that moment, the butler personally brought over tea, placing one cup in front of Isaac and the other two before Louisa and Sadie.
Isaac didn’t touch his tea. His eyes remained fixed on Louisa.
Louisa remained unhurried. She picked up her tea and took two sips.
After all the rushing around and talking, she really was thirsty.
64
Isaac sat across from her, observing her reaction. At this moment, he actually wasn’t sure whether she was faking her composure or truly
calm.
After all, most people would have buckled under this kind of relentless pressure by now.
Louisa set down her teacup and suddenly met his gaze directly, smiling faintly again. “Mr. Young, I’ve heard the Young Group is facing a
financial crisis. I imagine the company doesn’t have much liquid capital right now?”
Isaac had been waiting for her to show weakness. He hadn’t expected her to suddenly shift the topic to the Young Group’s finances.
His pupils contracted slightly as he stared at Louisa. “What are you implying?”
Before he could finish, three more people walked in through the living room entrance.
Julian and Wallace. And Teddy.
The butler hurried over to announce, “Mr. Young, Mr. Tudor and Mr. Morgan are here to see you.”
That single sentence made all three people in the living room turn toward the door.

Chapter 500
When Isaac saw Julian, a flash of delight crossed his eyes.
After all, he’d been calling nonstop recently without even catching a glimpse of Julian or William.
He immediately stood and walked toward Julian.
But before he could speak, Julian didn’t even glance his way.
Julian looked straight at Louisa.
Meeting his cold, piercing gaze, Louisa’s heart began to tremble uncontrollably.
She knew he must have received her transfer request application.
She’d thought that since she was leaving anyway, it wouldn’t matter how angry he got.
Besides, the overseas assignment was his mother’s idea. He couldn’t blame her for it.
But she hadn’t expected this–she hadn’t left yet.
Now, facing his gaze for real, she felt unbearably guilty and almost didn’t dare meet his eyes.
He wouldn’t actually hit her, would he?
She’d never seen such a cold, bone–chilling look on his face before.
Though he often looked at others this way.
But with her, he’d always been gentle.
Now, he was truly angry.
She was in deep trouble.
The others‘ gazes darted back and forth between the two of them.
In that moment, everyone forgot about Flora.
Only Isaac still remembered his company’s situation.
He greeted Julian first. “Julian, now that you’re here, don’t just stand there. You and Wallace aren’t strangers. Please, sit.”
64
Only then did Julian pull his gaze away from Louisa and look at Isaac, his tone indifferent. “I’m not staying. I’m here to pick someone up.‘
