Chapter 506
Louisa was left speechless by his words.
He was right. Even a small company had to follow rules and regulations, let alone a massive enterprise like the Tudor Group.
She’d always maintained strict boundaries between personal and professional matters. Even as the CEO’s girlfriend, she couldn’t be this willful.
Her confidence gradually deflated, and her eyes lowered.
Julian watched her, then let out a silent sigh.
He reached into his suit jacket and pulled out a folded application form, holding it out to her.
Louisa’s eyes lit up. She immediately reached for it.
Julian pulled it back, his tone unhurried. “You can have it back, but you need to tell me why you changed your mind.”
Louisa hesitated for a moment before answering honestly. “Flora just broke away from the Young family. She’s starting over from scratch, and I
promised to help her. I can’t just leave now–that would be irresponsible.”
Julian said, “You’re being responsible to her. Why aren’t you being responsible to me?”
Louisa froze.
Weren’t they talking about the assignment and Flora?
How had this suddenly become about their relationship?
She met his gaze and saw a glimmer of expectation in his eyes. Her heart trembled.
The office was utterly silent, as if only their breathing remained.
Clearly, Julian wasn’t going to let this go easily this time.
Under the pressure of his stare, Louisa was backed into a corner. She said quietly, “Didn’t you say… I didn’t have to be responsible?”
Julian looked at her in silence. After a long moment, he suddenly smiled.
Louisa didn’t know what that smile meant. She only felt her heart constrict sharply.
“So you’re not without a sense of responsibility. You’ll be responsible for your friends. You just don’t want to be responsible for me.”
His voice was soft, cool–and it pierced straight through Louisa’s eardrums.
She instinctively looked at him, hearing the disappointment in his words. Suddenly, she felt her breathing quicken, as if she couldn’t get enough air.

Juhan didn’t look at her again. He simply opened the application form and signed his name with a pen.
Then he placed it in front of Louisa. Since you don’t want to be responsible, then don’t be responsible at all. I’ve signed it. Go wherever you
want.”
In that instant, Louisa nearly collapsed. Her breathing seemed to stop. She stared at him, stunned.
Julian placed the signed application into the palm of her hand.
Then he left.
Louisa’s legs gave out completely. As if all strength had drained from her body, she sank to the floor.
She stared at the signed application in her hand, replaying his final words in her mind: Go wherever you want…
Was he… breaking up with her?
Breaking up…
Though she’d always known this ending would come.
They were always going to break up eventually.
But now that the moment had actually arrived, she realized her heart hurt so much she could barely breathe.
She bit down hard on her knuckles, trying to control her emotions, but the tears still came, unstoppable…
She wrapped her arms around her legs, buried her face in her knees, and sobbed uncontrollably.
From that night on, Louisa and Julian fell into a state of cold estrangement.
They both seemed to be deliberately avoiding each other.
They no longer crossed paths during commutes.
When they occasionally ran into each other at the company, neither spoke.
Actually, Louisa hadn’t wanted things to become like this She’d thought that even if they had to break up, they should at least part on good
terms.
After all, when they’d been together, it had been so good.
But once she realized Julian didn’t really want to talk to her, she lost the desire to break the ice.
If this was what he wanted, then so be it.
She spent most of her time in the Investment Department and didn’t go back to the 36th floor. That way, they could avoid the awkwardness of running into each other.

as always, didn’t take his emotions out on his employees. But everyone could tell Mr. Tudor was in a bad mood.
Whether in meetings or when delegating tasks, the cold aura radiating from him could be felt from a mile away.
Meetings became everyone’s most painful, agonizing ordeal.
Teddy couldn’t take it anymore. While Julian was in his office meeting with clients and didn’t need him, he went to find Louisa.
Louisa was staring at her computer, typing something.
Teddy didn’t look at what she was writing. He sat down across from her and said directly, “What happened that night was my fault. I was just hoping you two would make up, so I egged you on to sneak in and take it back.”
Louisa said flatly, “It’s fine.”
No matter what idea Teddy had suggested, the final decision had been hers. She didn’t blame himn.
Teddy paused, then continued, “I don’t think you understand what Mr. Tudor really meant. Sure, he signed it, but he gave you the application back. No matter what he said, he was just venting. Even if you tore up that application and acted like nothing happened, he wouldn’t say
anything.”
Louisa’s typing paused. She said nothing, staring at the text on her screen.
It was unmistakably a resignation letter.
She’d already decided. Once everything was settled, she was leaving the Tudor Group.
Otherwise, facing that person every day after breaking up while trying to sever every lingering thought in her heart–it would be too painful.
These past few days, she’d thought it through clearly. If she had to leave, then she’d leave.
As for Flora’s situation, at worst, they could just communicate online. It wasn’t a big deal.
Teddy watched her silence and assumed she didn’t want to leave. He kept offering suggestions. “Or you could just tell him directly that you don’t want to go anymore. He’ll agree.”
