Chapter 516
William caught his wife’s pleading look and turned to his son. “Julian, whatever it is, let’s talk after lunch.”
Julian shook his head. “I’m not eating. I have things to do. I’ll leave as soon as I’ve said what I came to say.”
The moment those words left his mouth, everyone exchanged uneasy glances. A shared realization settled over them–Julian was serious.
Now William couldn’t stop him either.
But Adeline was still the matriarch of the Tudor family. It wouldn’t do to embarrass her in front of everyone.
William tried again. “Then let’s go to the study.”
Julian said, “That won’t be necessary.”
He sat down directly on the living room sofa.
Seeing this, William had no choice but to give Amelia and Justin a look, signaling them to go upstairs.
The two had been looking forward to watching the drama unfold. Now they couldn’t.
They trudged upstairs without a word.
The household staff didn’t dare linger in the living room either. They quickly scattered.
However, once the Tudor siblings reached the upper floor, Justin swiftly ducked behind a large potted plant, ready to watch the show.
Amelia was dumbfounded.
She immediately crept over and crouched beside him, whispering, “You’re so bold–eavesdropping like this?”
Justin said, “If Julian wanted privacy, he wouldn’t be doing this in the living room. Whatever he’s about to say, he wants everyone to hear.”
Amelia thought about it. That… actually made sense.
In the living room.
Julian glanced at Adeline, who was still standing beside him. “Mom, sit.”
His tone was even gentle.
But that gentle, calm tone gave Adeline the distinct feeling of an approaching storm.
She hurriedly responded and sat down just as hurriedly.
William, watching from the side, almost wanted to laugh. When had he ever seen his wife this rattled?

The butler brought tea.
Julian picked up his cup, took a sip, and set it down. Then he looked at Adeline. “Mom, I came back to ask you one question. When you handed the Tudor Group over to me, did you not trust me?”
“Of course I trust you. Why wouldn’t/1?” Adeline didn’t understand where he was going with this.
Julian said, “If you trust me, then why are you interfering with personnel decisions during my tenure?”
Adeline was caught off guard.
She hadn’t even thought that Julian would reduce Louisa’s departure to a simple matter of “personnel decisions.
In truth, when she’d given Louisa that promotion–in–name–only transfer instead of directly forcing her out of the Tudor Group, it was precisely
to protect herself if Julian ever questioned her.
She steadied herself and tried to negotiate. “Julian, I didn’t interfere with your personnel decisions. I also think Louisa is talented. I was
promoting her. She’s the one who chose to go to the northwest.”

Julian didn’t get angry. He nodded calmly. I’m sure you had your reasons, Mom. I’m actually relieved–knowing you can still take charge puts
my mind at ease.”
“At ease? About what?” Adeline asked blankly, still not catching on.
Julian didn’t explain further. Instead, he reached into the inner pocket of his suit jacket and pulled out an envelope.
He placed it on the table and slid it toward Adeline and William.
Written clearly on the front: Resignation Letter.
Both Adeline and William froze. They looked at each other, then back at Julian in disbelief. Julian, whose resignation letter is this?”
There was no way they believed this was Julian’s resignation.
The next second-
Julian’s voice was cool and detached. “Mine.”
He looked at both Adeline and William. “Mom, Dad, I’ve wrapped up all my ongoing work. I’ve prepared detailed written handover documents. Teddy will come with me. Everyone else in the executive office will stay on as usual. I’m confident that whoever becomes the next CEO will be able to take over the Tudor Group smoothly.”
Adeline was stunned.
She never imagined that just transferring Louisa would lead to her son resigning outright.
William quickly tried to reason with him. “Julian, don’t be impulsive. Your mother wasn’t trying to interfere with your work. And if you suddenly leave, what happens to the Tudor Group?”

Juhan glanced at his mother’s dazed expression, then met William’s eyes. “Dad, you say Mom didn’t interfere, but she already has. I believe the Tudor Group will be fine with or without me. You and Mom can take over again The Tudor family has more than one son. I’m not that important.
Just as he said this, Jonathan and Terey arrived at the living room entrance.
Hearing Julian’s words, Jonathan immediately turned sound and started to leave.
Jeffrey quickly grabbed him. “Jonathan, don’t run. You can’t avoid this.”
Jonathan wasn’t good with words. He just shot Jeffrey a warning look.
