After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire’s Arms
Chapter 523
Louisa slid off Julian’s back and headed toward the loft.
Julian watched her go, knowing she was hurting.
But she stayed so calm.
:
It seemed she’d already decided-no matter when, he’d always choose his mother.
He hurried after her, catching her arm. “Louisa, I wasn’t finished.”
Louisa stopped but didn’t turn around.
He wasn’t finished?
What else was there to say?
Hadn’t he already made his choice?
Or did he want to keep lying to her, sweet-talking her, only to choose his mother again next time?
She’d never forced him to choose her. What more was there to discuss?

She turned, spine straight, meeting his gaze. “Your family stuff doesn’t concern me. If we can be together, great. If not, we’ll break up. I
don’t care.”
Without waiting for his response, she walked inside.
Julian followed.
She went straight upstairs to her room.
Julian followed.
As she shut the door, he blocked it with his hand.
Seeing it about to crush his fingers, Louisa’s chest tightened. She released the door just in time.
Julian caught the flash of panic in her eyes. His heart softened. “Louisa, let’s talk.”
Louisa met his gaze, expressionless. “I’m not interested in your family drama.
need to rest now. Please leave.”

Chapter 523
She tried closing the door again.
But his grip on the doorframe held firm. No matter how hard she pushed, he wouldn’t budge.
Louisa’s anger flared.
He kept choosing his mother over her, again and again. And she hadn’t said a word, had she?
She hadn’t cried, hadn’t made a scene, hadn’t thrown a tantrum. Wasn’t that enough?
What more did he want?
She gave up, releasing the door and walking to the sofa. She sat down.
“Say what you need to say, Mr. Tudor.”
Julian didn’t speak right away. He came over and sat beside her.
He reached for her hand. She pulled away, sliding further down the sofa.
Julian stayed where he was.
“I was always going to come find you.”
The statement hung in the air.
Louisa said nothing.
So what?
Because he was going to come find her, she should just wait around after he chose his mother, ready to be pacified?
Or was she supposed to be grateful just because he showed up?
She didn’t need him.
She was about to make that clear when Julian spoke again. “So, if I’d confronted her in that situation, she would’ve blamed all her negative emotions on you.”
He couldn’t let that happen.
He had to balance his mother’s emotions and Louisa’s carefully, or his mother would never truly accept Louisa.

Chapter 523
Louisa froze.
She’d never considered that reason.
If Adeline had kicked her out, the Investment Department would’ve gossiped endlessly, blaming Adeline.
Under that pressure, if Julian had also confronted Adeline for Louisa’s sake, Adeline-as a mother-certainly wouldn’t blame her son. She d decide that Louisa had seduced Julian.
Julian’s concern was thorough.
But wait-something wasn’t right.
When the realization hit, Louisa whipped around to face him. “You already confronted your mother?”
Seeing she wasn’t as angry anymore, Julian scooted closer, taking her hand into his.
He toyed with her fingers, voice unhurried. “Yeah. I confronted her.”
“How… how did you confront her?” Louisa asked carefully.
She didn’t want to go to war with his mother.
Julian pulled her onto his lap, tone slow and soothing like he was coaxing a child. “I told my mom that our Louisa is so capable-neither I nor the Tudor Group is her only option. I’m the one who can’t live without her.”
He said that last sentence right against her ear.
Louisa’s heart trembled. She didn’t know if it was from his teasing or his words.
Julian looked down at her, gently tucking her hair behind her ear, voice tender. “I’m sorry you had to go through that. Forgive me, okay?”
Louisa kept her head down, silent.
Truth was, her anger had already melted away.
Julian pulled her into his arms and continued, “Hawk’s early release-Teresa arranged it. She paid a fortune to get him out on bail.”
Louisa wasn’t surprised. “I figured.”
Julian said, “But I sent him back in. As for Teresa, I sent her to Blacksite Island, She’ll never come back.”
“Blacksite Island? Louisa startled. “That legendary island surrounded by ocean?”

Chapter 523
Julian stroked her hair, chuckling softly. “Our Louisa’s so smart. You know everything.”
Louisa met his eyes, realizing he wasn’t joking. “I always thought that was just a legend… It’s real? Blacksite Island actually exists?”
Julian nodded. “Yes.”
Louisa’s breath caught. “If it’s real, then the legends about the island-full of vicious beasts, unknown creatures, danger everywhere, extreme weather, conditions most people can’t survive… that’s all true too?”
Julian said, “Pretty much. If you’re curious, ask Noah. He’s been there. Came back with a month-long fever and nightmares for three months.”
A chill ran down Louisa’s spine.
A place that terrified even Noah-she could only imagine how horrific it must be.
