After the Affair Falling into a Billionaire's Arms novel Chapter 547

Chapter 547

Louisa shot her a lukewarm look. “Did you pick out your jewelry?”

“Yep. Rachel held up the bracelet in her hand.

They checked out.

Seeing that Louisa seemed preoccupied, Rachel didn’t press further. She linked arms with her and they left the jewelry store together.

In the VIP room.

Amelia was trying on jewelry,

Adeline glanced distractedly toward the door.

She still wanted to see what that girl looked like. That figure-it was too similar to the girl in the green dress from the banquet that

night.

No.

She had to go out and look.

She stood and walked to the glass window, peering out.

The main showroom was empty except for the staff. No customers.

“Did she leave already?”

Adeline felt a pang of regret, followed by self-doubt. Had she been mistaken? Would someone she’d been searching for everywhere really just show up here?

The sales associate, sharp as they come, picked up on her thoughts immediately. “Those two young ladies just left. They probably haven f gone far. I saw them heading to the right.”

The associate pointed in a direction.

Adeline hesitated, then turned to Amelia. “Go find that girl for ine. She really looked like her.

Amelia sighed helplessly. You’re going to chase someone down based on a glimpse of her back? That’s…. not great, Mom.

*You

Adeline’s temper flared. She looked down at her younger son.

Chapter 547

Justin was standing by the glass window.

He’d been standing there since they came in.

Adeline asked irritably, “What are you looking at?”

Justin seemed lost in thought. “I think I just saw someone I know.”

Adeline fell silent.

Amelia fell silent.

Looking at her two children-one uncooperative, the other acting strange-she got angry and headed straight for the door.

Amelia and Justin hurried after her.

“Mom, you’re not seriously going to chase her down, are you?” Amelia asked as they walked.

Adeline snapped, “Can’t I just go home?”

Truth be told, she did think she’d been a bit impulsive. Just because someone looked a little similar didn’t give her any real reason to

bother them. It wouldn’t be appropriate.

Meanwhile.

Louisa and Rachel left the mall together.

As they walked toward the parking garage, Rachel asked, “Louisa, what’s going on with you? You don’t want Mrs. Tudor to know you were the one who saved her that night, do you? But you don’t have to avoid her like this, right? So many people are doing everything they can to get close to the Tudor family. Even when they know they’re faking it, they still try to show up at their door, just to get in good with them. Even if you don’t want to suck up to the Tudors, there’s no need to hide it, is there? At the very least, I think you should tell Julian. It could help your relationship down the line.”

“Help?” Louisa let out a cold laugh.

She stopped walking and turned to Rachel. “Julian’s mother doesn’t like me at all. Before, she tried everything she could to kick me out of the Tudor Group and out of Silverlight City. She’s looking for a socialite from a wealthy family. That tells you everything you need to know-in Adeline’s mind, she’s still holding out for someone from the right background. So you really think that if she finds out I was the one who saved her that night, she’ll suddenly be thrilled to accept me? Don’t be naive. It’ll only make her more conflicted. She might even think I’m some kind of schemer-that I knew she’d be at the event, so I waited outside to stage a chance encounter.”

Rachel absorbed her explanation and went quiet for a moment.

She understood how Louisa felt.

Chapter 547

After all, shed fallen from a wealthy family to an ordinary, middle class lida herself

She knew all too well how shallow people could be.

Still, her heart ached for Louisa. Someone so capable, so kind-and she had to be treated this way) p right family and had been divorced?

She tried again. “Louisa, I think you’re being too pessimistic, it’s not set in stone. You could at least try, could’t you? Wa her mind about you. Even if it’s just for Mr. Tudor’s sake, don’t you want to give it a shot?

Louisa said, “Prejudice is like a mountain. If it were that easy to move, Hazel would have accepted me a long time ago

She laughed.

But the sound was bitter. Desolate.

Rachel didn’t say anything more.

She knew how much Louisa had sacrificed after marrying George-how hard shed worked for the Capulet family, forging home and career, managing everything.

Whether as George’s wife or as a daughter-in-law of the Capulets, Louisa had been beyond reproach.

But Hazel never saw it.

They hadn’t even been willing to publicly acknowledge Louisa’s position in the family, believing she was an embarrassment to the Capulet

name.

So no matter what Louisa did, they pretended not to notice.

Now, with the Tudors being even more high-profile, it was no wonder Louisa felt this way.

Louisa smiled calmly. “It’s fine. It is what it is.”

Rachel asked, “But what if Mrs. Tudor really does track you down?”

Louisa shrugged. “Then Fll meet her. I haven’t done anything wrong. Why should I be afraid of them? But I’m not going to seek her out

myself.”
