After the Affair Falling into a Billionaire's Arms novel Chapter 62

**Clocks Lie To Hearts by Asa River Flint**

**Chapter 62**

The atmosphere in the room was thick with disdain as everyone turned their eyes towards Hazel and Vivian. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on their shoulders; to conspire against someone in such a malicious manner was a sin that echoed in the hearts of those who witnessed it.

Vivian, feeling the heat of the moment, panicked. Her voice trembled as she pleaded, “No, it wasn’t me! It’s Louisa who’s cheap—what does it have to do with me?” The desperation in her tone was palpable as she turned her gaze to George, hoping for a sliver of understanding. “George, you have to believe me! I didn’t do it. Louisa herself—”

Before she could finish her sentence, George’s hand connected sharply with her cheek, the sound reverberating through the tense silence. Vivian stumbled backward, collapsing to the ground in shock, her mind racing as she tried to process the betrayal.

In that fleeting moment, George’s eyes were devoid of any compassion or warmth. They were filled instead with a fury that was terrifying to behold as he glared down at Vivian. “You did this to her? Who gave you the right to hurt her like this?” His voice was low and dangerous, each word dripping with accusation.

Vivian, overwhelmed by fear, felt tears streaming down her face. The Price family, witnessing the scene unfold, snapped back to reality. Owen and Lily rushed to their daughter’s side, concern etched on their faces.

Caden, unable to contain his anger, turned his glare towards Louisa. “What proof do you have that my sister did this? If I find out you’re making false accusations, our Price family won’t let you off lightly!” His voice was a mix of protectiveness and fury, demanding answers.

Louisa, however, simply laughed, a sound that was both mocking and triumphant. Even in the face of such adversity, they were still floundering, desperately trying to save face.

She didn’t immediately counter Caden’s accusation; instead, she watched Vivian with a smirk, waiting with bated breath for the next ludicrous claim to escape her lips.

Sure enough, emboldened by the presence of her family, Vivian quickly grasped the reality of her situation—she was standing on shaky ground, with Louisa’s words being the only thing she had to defend herself.

Wiping her tears away, she adopted the role of the victim. “She’s lying! She knows George and I are together, so she’s trying to smear me to keep me away from him!” Her voice was filled with feigned innocence as she looked at George, her eyes wide with desperation. “George, you have to believe me! How could I do something like this? I love you so much! Even when I found out you had another woman, my feelings didn’t change. I just wanted to be with you.”

Her voice trembled, and with each word, her sincerity seemed to grow, yet it only served to disgust those around her. In the realm of high society, where wealth dictated morality, who among the men didn’t keep mistresses? For the wives of the affluent, dealing with homewreckers was an all-too-familiar routine.

Vivian’s words didn’t elicit sympathy; instead, they deepened the revulsion felt by the onlookers. She had the audacity to steal someone’s husband and still believed she was justified in her actions?

George’s expression softened just a fraction, but his voice remained firm, laced with a harshness that cut through the tension. “Do you swear you didn’t do these things?”

Vivian nodded fervently, her eyes wide with feigned conviction. “I swear! I swear I didn’t do anything! If I did, may heaven strike me dead!” Her heart raced as she made her vow, convinced that her carefully crafted plans from the previous night had been foolproof—Louisa couldn’t possibly have escaped her trap. Even if she had, how could she have gathered any evidence?

Seeing George’s expression shift ever so slightly, Vivian felt a surge of triumph. She shot Louisa a look that was both victorious and challenging, silently conveying, ‘George believes me, not you. What can you do now?’

The more she contemplated her perceived victory, the more satisfaction she derived from it.

Julian exchanged a subtle glance with Teddy, who quickly positioned himself in front of Louisa, a protective barrier that deterred anyone from approaching.

The mansion was engulfed in silence, save for the chilling continuation of Vivian’s arrogant voice echoing through the room.

“Feel free to call the police…”

Her tone grew increasingly smug, the finality of her words striking like a hammer. “He’s been tired of you, wanting to kick you aside. So he planned all this…”

The air was thick with tension as she continued, “And tomorrow at my birthday celebration, George and I will announce our engagement…”

As her laughter echoed maniacally, it reverberated through the mansion, leaving a chilling impression on everyone present.

For a full minute, the venue remained silent, the shock of Vivian’s shamelessness and cruelty hanging heavy in the air. The guests exchanged glances filled with contempt, their gazes shifting to George, Hazel, and the Price family.

Vivian’s face drained of color, disbelief washing over her. How could Louisa have managed to record everything? Panic set in as she contemplated the possibility of losing George forever.

Her eyes, trembling with fear, locked onto George’s fierce gaze, and in a moment of desperation, she pointed an accusatory finger at Hazel. “It was her! She didn’t want to pay that settlement, so she forced me to do it!” The words tumbled out in a frantic attempt to deflect blame, her mind racing as she sought a way out of the chaos she had created.
