Chapter 137 Unmasked and Unrelenting
As they got closer to the neighborhood, more and more people filled the streets.
Iris felt embarrassed, her cheeks turning red. She buried her face in Julian’s chest without thinking, her voice as quiet as a whisper. “Put me down, Julian. Please. I promise I’ll go home with you.”
But Julian acted like he didn’t hear her. He held her even tighter.
He was carrying his own wife home. It didn’t matter if the security guards or neighbors saw.
They got on the elevator. Iris, still blushing, asked quietly, “Aren’t you tired?”
Julian’s face was cold, but his voice was gentle. “You’re light. I could carry you for a few more miles and not get tired.”
“I never see you work out.”
”
The elevator door opened. Julian carried her out, explaining calmly, “I come home late a lot. Most of the time, I’m at the gym.”
Iris froze for a second, her heart full of mixed feelings.
Julian held her with one arm, unlocked the door with his fingerprint, and kicked it shut with his foot once they were inside.
He didn’t change his shoes. He carried her straight to the sofa and sat down.
Iris tried to get up, but Julian pulled her tight into his arms. His arms were like an iron cage, holding her tight.
Julian buried his face in her neck, breathing in her scent greedily, murmuring softly, “Don’t move. Let me hold you for a minute.”
Iris stiffened in his arms, listening to his fast, heavy breathing. Her heart was all messed up.
The living room was so quiet. The only sound was their heartbeats, each one pounding against her already
tense nerves.
After a long time, Julian slowly lifted his head, his eyes fixed on Iris. “Let’s not get divorced. Okay?”
Iris looked away from his intense gaze, bit her lip, and said nothing.
