Agnes' Awakening: From Zero to His Whole World novel Chapter 138

Chapter 138 Only Ever You

Inside the private jet, the cabin hummed softly as it cut through the night.

Every so often, Agnes would redress the wound on Raymond’s hand, removing the old gauze with gentle hands and wrapping it fresh again.

Raymond watched her. His gaze dropped to the stitches she had made, each one placed with the care of someone who understood fabric and thread the way a painter understood color. A slow smile crossed his

face.

“As expected from Aurora. It’s no surprise that a legend in the embroidery world knows her way with a needle. You stitch better than most surgeons.”

Agnes’s head snapped up. Her eyes went wide, fixed on him. He had called her Aurora.

Raymond tilted his head, the smile deepening, almost playful. “What’s wrong? Ms. Aurora of Tidewhisper Lily.”

‘You… you knew?” The words came out quieter than she intended.

“There are things I choose not to know,” he said evenly. “But if I want to know something, I know it.”

Agnes stared at him, the pieces rearranging themselves in her mind. “So all this time, you knew who I was? Why didn’t you expose me at the WOW competition?”

Raymond leaned in slightly, his voice taking on a teasing edge. “I wanted to see the real you. Not the one performing for anyone else.”

Agnes let out a breath. “But you were there with Hillary. And in the end, you still sided with her.”

A quiet chuckle escaped him. He leaned closer, closing the distance between them, his voice dropping into something softer, teasing. “Were you jealous?”

Heat crept up her neck. She turned away from the warmth of his breath, fixing her gaze somewhere past his shoulder.

‘Don’t flatter yourself. I just think you’re… impossible to understand.”

Raymond watched her with obvious pleasure. That small flare of temper, the denial that didn’t quite convince-it felt more honest than anything she had shown him before.

“Given who I am, do you really think Hillary would have walked out of that competition humiliated the way she did if I had chosen to protect her?”

Agnes went still. The realization landed like a stone dropped into still water. “You. You did that on purpose?”

Raymond didn’t answer. He simply watched her, a glint of something unreadable in his eyes, letting her work through it on her own.

The question clawed its way out of her before she could stop it. “What exactly are you to Hillary? What is

all of this.”

“I told you last night, he said. “There’s nothing betweert us. I’ve never loved her. Not once.

“The only person I’ve ever loved is you In the past. Now. Always.”

A strange numbness spread through her chest. She didn’t want to believe him. And yet…

Then what about her birthdays? All those events you took her to? The hospital visits?

Her Instagram is full of it. The pictures of the two of you are everywhere.

Even your car! Her things were everywhere, like she belonged there.”

The words came faster now, one after another, as if once she started, she couldn’t stop. Across from her. Raymond’s chest rose slightly. And this damn woman kept saying she did not care about him.

She had been paying attention. She had been cataloging every slight detail.

Hillary’s birthdays? I dropped off a gift and left. As for events, I have never once taken anyone as my date.

She happened to be there. I can’t stop her from showing up to things, can I? I said hello, and I left.

That car you mentioned, I assigned it to her. I’ve never even sat in it. She was the one using it.”

She helped me once. I repaid the favor. That’s all.

As for her Instagram, I wouldn’t know what she posts./She’s been muted since the day she returned to Grandridge.”

Since she came back to Grandridge, I’ve had her blocked.”

Agnes sat there, the words settling over her like sediment after a storm. Hillary had gone to great lengths ust to fuck with her.

A tangle of emotions rose up in her chest as she listened to Raymond’s explanations.

Grievance. Humiliation. Relief so sharp it almost hurt. Fury at herself for being so easily deceived. They collided and knotted together until she couldn’t untangle one from the next.

Raymond reached for her hand, his bandaged fingers closing gently around hers.

‘I’ve done things I can’t undo. I won’t ask you to forgive me. But believe me when I say I will never be that stupid again.

“I don’t want a divorce. I want to start over. Is that possible, Agnes?”

She lowered her eyes. For a long moment, she said nothing. Back in Velmara, that stretch of chaos and danger they had barely made it through together, something had shifted in her. She couldn’t deny that.

Now he had laid himself bare-every secret, every misunderstanding, every wall he had kept between them. He had given her the truth without reservation.
