At that moment, someone stood hidden at the corner of the hallway.
She had heard every word of the conversation between Agnes and Raymond.
Monica stood there, completely stunned. They were divorced? Raymond and Agnes were alrea divorced?!
Ever since she moved back to Grandridge from Haanburg, she had noticed Raymond see down all the time. Whenever she asked, he said nothing. Not once did he mention that he single now.

The Hales and the Newtons had been close for years. Both were well–known, respected families.
Calvin and Joseph were good friends, and the two families often had dinner together.
Monica grew up with Ursa and Duncan.
Duncan had always liked her.
When he once overheard Joseph joking with Calvin about letting the kids marry in the futur he had been over the moon. From then on, he tried his best to impress Joseph, hoping he’d b the chosen one.
But everything changed when Raymond came home.
Monica was completely taken by him.
At a family dinner, Joseph joked in front of everyone, “Monica, when you grow up, how about marrying into our family? Everything here could be yours. I’ve got two sons–which one do you like?”
Without thinking, Monica blurted out, “I like Raymond! I want to marry him!”

But none of them could move her heart.
Raymond’s image was carved deep inside her mind. She couldn’t forget him.
She compared every man to him. None of them came close.
Raymond was the one person she could never have.
