Chapter 21 The Auction Dress

“I’ll pay three times the salary that this institution offers. I wonder if the young lady is interested.”

Agnes looked at the woman in front of her in surprise. The offer came so suddenly that for a moment she didn’t know what to say.

The staff members standing nearby were also shocked. Wasn’t this the very person they had just rejected?

“Miss? Miss?” Emily called.

“Huh? Oh. I’m willing!” Agnes said quickly.

Of course Agnes was willing. This institution had a very strong reputation in Grandridge, and the salary it offered was already quite high.

But the woman in front of her, Emily, was offering three times the pay just to hire her as a Caelish tutor. Only a fool would refuse.

Besides, seeing how respectful the staff were toward Emily, Agnes guessed that this woman must have quite an important background.

“Ma’am, may I ask how old your grandson is?” Agnes asked politely.

“He’s six years old, very mischievous. We’ve already changed several teachers. This time I came to find one myself. When I saw you earlier, I had a feeling. With your decisiveness, I believe you can teach that child well,” Emily said with a smile.

“Ma’am, you’re praising me too much. I won’t disappoint you. I’ll do my best with the job,” Agnes said.

Emily nodded with satisfaction. She instructed the driver beside her to leave their contact information, then she left.

Agnes felt lighthearted on the way home. Although the job wasn’t at a big company, receiving recognition from someone else made her very happy.

On the way back, she suddenly received a call from Sabrina. Sabrina said she wasn’t feeling well and asked Agnes to come to the Newton family estate.

The moment Agnes heard that Sabrina was unwell, she didn’t dare delay for even a second. She immediately called a taxi and rushed to the Newton family estate.

After getting out of the car, she ran quickly toward the mansion. But when she arrived, she saw Megan pushing Sabrina in a wheelchair while they admired the flowers in the yard.

Sabrina looked energetic and cheerful. She didn’t look sick at all.

Agnes let out a relieved breath and walked over. “Sabrina.”

“Agnes, you’re here.”

“Sabrina, where are you feeling unwell? You scared me.”

“Sabrina, next time just tell me you miss me and I’ll come over. Don’t say things like that again.”

Agnes looked at her with confusion. “What is it, Sabrina?”

“Look behind you.”

Agnes turned in the direction Sabrina pointed. Raymond was standing there.

“Silly children arguing is normal, I hope the two of you can be good to each other. Raymond’s mother and your mother both hoped the two of you would live happily together. Agnes, I know Raymond can be frustrating sometimes. But he truly cares about you. And I also know you truly care about him. Today Raymond came to find me. He was very anxious because he couldn’t find you. That child is stubborn. For some people, he only feels guilt. I’m old now, and I see things clearly. I don’t want misunderstandings between the two of you. You two should talk things through. Listen to me, alright?” Sabrina said gently.

Megan pushed Sabrina away, leaving the two of them alone. Raymond slowly walked toward Agnes.

“You really want to divorce me that much?” Raymond asked.

“Yes.”

Agnes answered without hesitation, not even pausing for a second.

Raymond felt a sharp pain in his chest, as if someone had stabbed him.

He looked into Agnes’s eyes. The deep affection and warmth that had once been there were completely gone. In their place was clear indifference and hatred.

“We should complete the divorce procedures as soon as possible. For now, let’s not tell Sabrina. Later… we’ll explain it to her slowly,” Agnes said.

After saying that, Agnes turned to leave. But Raymond grabbed her arm tightly with one hand.

“What else do you want?” Agnes asked.

“This is for you” Raymond handed her an exquisite box from behind him.
