Chapter 228 Reflections
“Mrs. Rios’s place is close to here. I figured you’d get back early after delivering the gown, so I ordered two desserts. Let’s have a little first to hold us over.”
Nadia looked at the mango mousse in front of her. The smell made her eyes sting, her nose itching.
But seeing Agnes already digging in, she picked up her spoon and took big bites of the mango/mousse.
Then she gave a thumbs-up and praised, “Wow! This place’s desserts are amazing!”
Agnes smiled. “Their mango mousse is easily the top two in all of Grandridge. No one dares claim number
one.
“It’s their signature dessert. It’s good, right? Want me to order you another one?”
Nadia licked the cream from the corner of her lips and waved her hand with a smile.
“No, no. It’s good, but I need to save room. We’ve still got more to eat later.”
Agnes said, “Then I’ll pack some for you to take home later.”
Nadia said, “Agnes, you’re seriously too kind. You’re so thoughtful.
“Um, I’m
to the restroom. My period just came…”
Agnes said, “Okay, be careful.”
Nadia left the private room, covering her mouth as she rushed toward the restroom.
She checked around to make sure no one was there.
Then she rushed into a stall, crouched by the toilet, and started vomiting violently.
She was severely allergic to mango.
She didn’t know how long she had threw up. Cold sweat broke out across her forehead, and the makeup on
her face was a mess.

Clutching her stomach, she slumped onto the floor, her face twisted with anger.
Then she dug out two allergy pills from her pocket and swallowed them dry.
After a long while, she finally came out.
She fixed her appearance in the mirror, put on a smile again, and returned to the private room.
Agnes glanced at her phone and asked, “What took you so long, Nadia? Are you okay? You don’t look too good.”
Nadia said, “I’m fine. My period just started, and I’m having cramps.”
Agnes said, “Oh no, is it bad? Should I pack some food for you and take you home to rest?”

Nadia said, “No, no, I’m okay. I already took some medicine. I don’t wanna ruin everyone’s mood.”
Agnes smiled knowingly and told Nadia not to push herself.
The two of them chatted while waiting for the others.
They ended up talking about Polly.
Nadia looked regretful. “Even if she did something stupid, she didn’t deserve to die. She was so young. It’s such a pity.”
Agnes said, “What was your relationship like with her? Honestly, she was with me for so long.
“I was surprised she suddenly got involved with Verdant Bloom.”

Nadia frowned, staring at it for a while but seeing nothing unusual.
“Agnes, what is this?”
Agnes said, “This is a photo Polly posted on her social media.”/
Nadia replied, “It just looks like she went to a restaurant and took a picture as a memory.”
Agnes smiled at her “Do you really not remember at all?”/
