Love After Leaving: No Regret

Chapter 231 The Mask Comes Off

Finished

Nadia’s face twisted into something feral, like a beast from hell ready to devour everything in its path.

She carefully wiped the man’s body, shaved his face, and trimmed his nails.

When everything was done, she held his hand and gently pressed a kiss to his cold lips, whispering.

“Ethan, wait for me. Once I’ve taken care of everything, I’ll come back with our child.

“No matter what you become, the three of us will stay together forever.”

During this time, Nadia had come to this hospital occasionally, but she had never dared step into this room before.

Every time, she only stood at a distance, watching the man through the window.

She had been careful, afraid of being discovered.

But today, after learning that Ethlyn was truly her biological daughter, she couldn’t suppress the urge anymore and wanted to tell him everything.

She wanted to prove to him how much she loved him.

There had been so many men back then, yet somehow, the child turned out to be his.

That child was proof of their love.

Nadia fixed her hair, adjusted her mask again, and prepared to leave.

The moment the door opened, she froze, her breathing stopping altogether.

A woman stood straight in the doorway, a faint smile playing on her lips.

It was Agnes

Nadia quickly reacted, instinctively pulling her mask higher as she said,

“Hi, Ma’am. Are you here to visit?

“It’s nighttime. The patient needs rest. Visiting hours are during the day.”

As she spoke, she reached out to close the door, trying to block Agnes outside.

But the moment her hand moved, Agnes grabbed her wrist tightly.

Tilting her head, Agnes smiled coldly and said.

“Nadia, why are you here?”

Nadia froze, panic flashing through her eyes as she quickly denied it,

“What are you talking about? I’m not Nadia. Please leave the room.

“I already told you, it’s not visiting hours. Come back during the day.”

Agnes stepped closer, reaching out to pull off her mask, but Nadia twisted away just in time.

“Hey! What are you doing? Are you here to cause trouble?

“If you don’t leave, I’m calling security! Get out!”

Watching the nurse’s agitation, Agnes simply walked past her and moved to the bedside.

Right in front of Nadia, she reached for the tube in the man’s mouth.

Seeing this, Nadia lunged forward to stop her. “Don’t!”

The moment she got close, Agnes ripped off her mask.

Nadia’s face was fully exposed.

Both of them froze. The air fell into a suffocating silence, broken only by the steady beeping of the machines.

“Hello, Nadia.

“Or should I say, Rebecca?”

Nadia stood there, her eyes flashing with a mix of fury and shock.

Everything had happened too suddenly. She couldn’t understand why Agnes was here.

And worse, it felt like Agnes already knew everything. How was that possible?

“Been a while, Rebecca. After all these years as best friends, you came back without even telling me. I could’ve thrown you a proper welcome party.”

Agnes stepped closer, studying her face with a smile.

“You must’ve spent quite a bit on that face. I really didn’t recognize you at all.”

Nadia stayed silent, her mind racing as she tried to figure out how to handle this. She couldn’t expose herself now.

As long as she denied everything, sh

still had a chance. Agnes was probably bluffing.

After all, she had modeled her face after someone who was already dead, someone completely different from her original appearance.

Even her identity had been bought with a large sum of money, using the records of that deceased girl.

After steadying herself, Nadia forced her expression to remain calm and spoke slowly,

“Agnes, listen to me. I’m Nadia. I’m not this Rebecca you’re talking about.

“I don’t know any Rebecca. I’m here today because…”
