Love After Leaving: No Regret
Chapter 232 Calling Her Out
Nadia flicked a glance at Agnes, and that same eerie smile was still on her face.
Then she tossed the question back, asking, “Agnes, why are you here?
“Do you know this man? I work here as a nurse, and I’ve never seen you before.”
Agnes let out a scoff, then burst into laughter, clutching her stomach.
“Rebecca, you got plastic surgery, but did you also sign up for acting classes or something?
“Oh, man! Hahaha, I’m dying! This is too funny, hahaha…”
Agnes pulled over a chair, sat down leisurely, and said, “You’re really not that good at it. I’d love to see how long you plan to keep this act going.”
Nadia said, “Agnes, why won’t you believe me? I get the sense you might’ve misunderstood me a bit lately.
Is it because I had dinner with Polly and George? Are you still hung up on that?”
Agnes chuckled. “Go on, keep talking.”
Nadia sneered. “Heh, just as I thought. You don’t believe me. Even when I explain, you don’t trust me.
“You’ve already decided to doubt me and put distance between us. I’m done explaining.
“Agnes, stop framing me and calling me Rebecca.
“If you don’t like me and have such a problem with me, I’ll resign first thing tomorrow morning.”
Agnes said, “Oh, don’t go. Ever since you joined Tidewhisper Lily, look how lively the studio’s become, trouble after trouble, one thing after another.
“Especially when I realized you look more and more like that old ‘friend’ of mine… Now that’s interesting.”
A flicker of anger crossed Nadia’s face.
“Agnes, thank you for taking care of me all this time. Back then, I even turned down Verdant Bloom’s offer just to stay loyal and follow you at Tidewhisper Lily. I never thought it would end like this.
“Guess I misjudged you, Agnes.”
Agnes didn’t get mad. She stayed calm.
“No wonder you impressed me so much during the interview.
“You knew all my preferences. You practically had a cheat sheet. Of course, it was easy to win me over.
“When you first joined the studio, Polly even complained to me, said you were a little arrogant.
“You were new, but somehow more familiar with the workflow than an old employee like her. It’s kinda funny.”
Nadia shot back, “That’s because I adapt quickly! I can get used to any environment in just a few days!”
Agnes said, “Ever since you came to Tidewhisper Lily, strange things have been happening nonstop.
“Looking back now, every single thing follows a pattern.
