Chapter 30 Surprise

After five bottles, the young model started crying and begging for mercy. Felix finally let her go.

When he returned to the booth, Raymond was still drinking by himself.

“Raymond, you scared away another girl. Felix said with a grin.

“She asked for it,” Raymond replied coldly.

The group drank until late at night. Raymond was already very drunk by then, but he still refused to leave. He kept calling the waiter to bring more alcohol.

Felix couldn’t stop him. He couldn’t drag him away either. In the end, he had no choice but to call Hillary.

Hillary arrived at the bar shortly after.

“Raymond, what are you doing? Why did you drink so much?” she said with worry. “Let me take you home.”

Felix asked, “Hillary, he seems in a bad mood. Did you two argue?”

Hillary shook her head. “No. Felix, did Raymond say anything?”

Felix also shook his head. But he kept thinking about the question Raymond asked earlier–whether people thought Raymond and Hillary were a couple.

Hillary helped Felix get Raymond into the car. Then they drove him back to the Newton Mansion.

Linda opened the door for them. Raymond reeked of alcohol. He could barely stand. As soon as he entered the house, he collapsed onto the living room couch and fell asleep,

“Tell Agnes to make me some chicken noodle soup,” Raymond mumbled with his eyes closed.

Linda glanced at Hillary awkwardly before going upstairs to call Agnes.

Hillary looked surprised. She had heard that Agnes had run away from home for several days. She didn’t expect Agnes to be back.

How shameless. She pretended to leave for a few days and then came back like nothing happened. Why didn’t she just stay gone?

Hillary looked at Raymond lying on the couch. She had never seen him drunk before. She wondered if Ursa had told him about Agnes and Neal.

Just as she was thinking about it, she heard Agnes shouting from upstairs.

I’m not cooking! It’s the middle of the night. Can’t you make it yourself?”

Linda said helplessly. “Mrs. Newton, Mr. Newton specifically asked you to make it.”

“So what if he asked?” Agnes replied coldly. “If he wants soup, he can cook it himself. Stop bothering me

Linda stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do.

Agnes impatiently tried to close her door. Then Hillary’s voice came from downstairs.

“Agnes, how can you be so heartless? Rayond is drunk like this, and you won’t even make him a bowl of chicken noodle soup?”

Agnes saw Hillary and didn’t get angry at all. She walked to the top of the stairs, crossed her arms, and spoke calmly.

“If you’re so kind, why don’t you cook it yourself? You already brought him home. This is your chance to show how caring you are.”

She laughed softly. “Or are you not willing? Looks like Raymond isn’t that important to you after all.”

Hillary was furious. “Agnes, that’s too much! Raymond treats you well. How can you be so cold to him?”

Agnes laughed. “If you care about him that much, then go take good care of him. I need my beauty sleep.”

She covered her mouth and yawned. “Just treat this place like your own home. Do whatever you want.”

Then she closed the door and ignored everyone.

“Agnes! You-!” Hillary was so angry she almost exploded.

On the couch, Raymond slowly opened his eyes. He had heard everything.

The alcohol made his stomach hurt badly. But his heart hurt even more.

In the past, whenever he came home drunk from business dinners, Agnes would help clean him up. She would cook chicken noodle soup for him too.

Even if he fell asleep, she would stay beside him all night, afraid he might feel sick after drinking.

He had gotten used to her kindness. Now he suddenly wondered when she had become so cold toward him, and why she seemed colder every day.

Raymond slowly stood up. After sending Hillary away, he stood outside Agnes’s bedroom door for a long time. But in the end, he went into the room next door.

The next morning, Raymond rushed into Agnes’s room as soon as he woke up from his hangover. When he saw that she was still there, he finally let out a breath of relief.

Agnes had no plans to leave for now. Not because she still cared about Raymond.

She simply understood his personality. She didn’t want to cause trouble for the Ruells because of herself.

She had also spoken with Emily on the phone. Besides apologizing, Emily told her that she planned to move to another city with Andrew.

Emily had returned this time because the Ruells and the Newtons once planned a marriage alliance.
