Chapter 31

Silvia’s POV

Herbert. 1

The Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack

His gaze, stuck to Ashley like glue, was filled with blatant admiration and praise.

Brian’s eyes were on her too, on that damned velvet gift box in Ashley’s hands. His jaw was so tight it looked like it might snap, and those eyes of hisswirling with something I’d never seen beforesomething dark, violent.

Jealousy.

That gnawing, poisonous jealousy churned in my gut, rising like acid that burned its way up my throat.

Why her?

What made Ashley, a completely useless Omega, someone who didn’t even have a wolf spirit, deserving of catching the attention of the two strongest Alphas in all of North America?

I gave everything for this banquet, all for Brian’s reputation! I barely slept three hours a night, wracking my brain, enduring all those sneering looks from the servants. I acted like a real Luna, for the good of this pack, for Brian!

And what did I get in return?

A complete disaster. Brian’s cold, indifferent stare. And the mockery of the entire high society.

And her, Ashley, she just put on a revealing red dress, looking like some cheap showoff, and immediately grabbed everyone’s

attentionBrian’s attention included!

No.

I can’t accept this.

There’s no way I’ll accept this!

If I could, I’d march right over there, take my sharp nails, and shred that fake, pretentious face of hers!

But I can’t.

I clenched my palms hard, nails digging into the skin, forcing myself to keep a soft, innocent smile. I had to keep playing the part of the sweet, obedient partner by Brian’s side. I couldn’t let him see any side of me that wasn’t perfect.

Besides, the game wasn’t over yet.

I still had my trump card.

My eyes shifted to the very center of the gallery, where the brightest spotlight illuminated my painting.

That piecemy blood, sweat, and tears had gone into creating it.

As long as it fetched a good price, as long as I donated the money to charity, all those nasty rumors about the food poisoning scandal would finally die down. Everyone would see my talent, my generosity. And Brianhe’d see too. He’d realize I was worth so much more than that shallow, attentionseeking Ashley. Compared to her, I’d shine a hundred times brighter!

Ever since that damn banquet, Brian’s attitude toward me had grown cold. He no longer held me like he used to, soothing me in that deep, comforting voice of his. When he looked at me now, there was always a hint of distance in his gazesomething I couldn’t quite understand.

I couldn’t lose him.

No way. I just couldn’t.

Brian,I tugged softly at his sleeve, speaking in the gentlest, most adoring tone I could muster. Look, that paintingeveryone seems to really like it.

My words worked; they managed to pull his attention away from Ashley, that insufferable woman. He followed my gaze toward the painting, and the anger on his face started to fade, replaced by a trace of approval.

Not bad,he said casually.

That simple compliment was like a shot of adrenaline, coursing through my frozen veins. My heart pounded wildly, elated by those brief words of praise.

I had to ensure this painting sold for a high price. Taking a deep breath, I stepped forward, grabbed the microphone, and spoke with confidence: Thank you all for appreciating this piece, The Guardian Under Moonlight. I am the artist, Silvia.

When I created this, I was going through the darkest time of my life. I used to be a warrior, protecting my pack with my strength. But everything changed after an accidentI lost my wolf and even faced the countdown to my own life. Every bit of anguish and despair is poured into these strokes of paint. The lost, wandering gaze of this shewolf symbolizes her waiting for an uncertain fate.

As a member of Blackwood Pack, I once defended our home with strength. Now, without it, I still want to contribute to my pack. That’s why I picked up the brush. All proceeds from this auction will go to the Blackwood Pack Charity Fund.

As I spoke, my voice trembled, thick with emotion, and the crowd’s gazes shifted toward me, full of compassion.

Internally, I admired my own masterful performance.

People started murmuring around me.

Oh my gosh, I’m so touched. A female warrior went through all that and still dedicates herself to the pack’s futureshe’s like an angel.

Absolutely, Silvia is not just talented, she’s s selfless too

Just then, two men dressed sharply th

I’ll offer five hundred thousand!

Five hundred thousand? The Storm Pack Alpha scoffed, his tone dripping with disdain. A masterpiece like this for just five hundred grand? I’ll bid eight hundred thousand!

My mind buzzed, overwhelmed as waves of exhilaration crashed over me.

They’re fighting over my painting!

I was so excited that my whole body was shaking, and I almost lost my balance. Instinctively, I grabbed Brian’s arm and tilted my head up, giving him a look that screamed, See? I did it!

Finally, a genuine, satisfied sinile appeared on Brian’s face. He looked down at me, his sapphireblue eyes holding a warmth I hadn’t seen in a while. You did great, Silvia.
